Kundasang Holiday Packages
Looking for a taste of Malaysia beyond the bustle of Kuala Lumpur? Kundasang is the perfect place. This small village has bloomed into a town, and offers some of the best of Malaysian Borneo. The Kundasang Memorial, Mount Kinabalu Park and Poring Hot Springs are all within reach of this town in the foothills of Mount Kinabalu.
The earth here is fertile. That means you get to frolic (yes, we said frolic) through dairy pastures and fields of cabbages. It’s enough to make you wonder if The Sound of Music was filmed here instead of the Alps in Europe. You know, except that temperatures rarely drop below 13 degrees. So enjoy those drops of golden sun (or res, if you will). Our Kundasang holiday packages are here for you!
Stuff to Do
If raindrops on roses are a few of your favourite things, then head over to the Kundasang War Memorial. Sure, it honours Allied POWs, but it’s also a gorgeous garden. Or rather gardens—the Australian, English and Borneo Gardens are some of our favourite places on Kundasang holidays.
After you snap a few close-ups of the flowers here, grab a telescoping lens and take to the skies! The mountains around Kundasang have some great wind patterns, so paragliding is a favourite extreme sport around here. Not quite your style? Then try a Paramotor Trike. It’s kind of like a hoverboat, but for flying.
Grub to Nosh
During holidays to Kundasang, you might notice that there’s a lot of green around here. That’s because this area is legendary for growing tasty food. So go ahead. Grab a forkful of veggies, because they’re some of the best in Borneo. Local hotels have great restaurants, but for the most authentic and fresh veggies, check out the open-air eateries.
Nosh on dishes like Laksa Sarawak, type of spicy noodle meal with chicken, prawns and local flavours. And for something truly unique, munch on some stir fried jungle fern. They’re kind of like the Borneo version of kale chips. Only better, because you’re on holiday.
Where to Visit
As the gateway to Mount Kinabalu, Kundasang is just outside the World Heritage Site of Kinabalu Park. Summit the peak at over 4000 metres, or just enjoy the 4500 species of flora and fauna, including 326 bird species. Talk about a big year!
After your hike, a soak in the local Poring Hot Spring is going to be epic. And you thought saving money with our Kundasang packages felt good. And if you couldn’t get enough World War II History at the Kundasang Memorial, the Ranau War Memorial is just a few kilometres down the hill. Cruise on over with one of our Kundasang car rental options.
Ready for a trip that will leave you singing its praises? Then book one of Wotif’s Kundasang package deals now. Even when you’re ready to come down off the mountain, you may not want to go home. That’s cool. Use our Kuala Lumpur packages to see how mainland Malaysians do their thing next. Because saving you money and offering great getaways are a few of our favourite things.
