Mountain Crest: Seclusion and Serenity Await at Our Rustic Mountain Hideaway

Embracing the Seasons:

Prepare for an unforgettable mountain retreat at our rustic cabin, where every season brings its own enchantment. Nestled atop a scenic mountain, this cozy hideaway promises both tranquility and adventure, far from the luxuries of a fancy hotel.

During winter, our mountaintop oasis transforms into a snowy wonderland, offering a magical setting for your getaway. With snow and ice adding a touch of winter charm, we recommend guests come prepared. Opt for a high-clearance 4WD vehicle or equip your ride with light tire chains for added traction. Please note that the gravel road leading to the cabin is not suitable for motorcycles, but it ensures the seclusion and serenity of your stay.

Crafted from authentic logs, Mountain Crest exudes rustic charm, offering a peaceful retreat surrounded by natural beauty. We’re not career hosts—just a family who loves sharing our home with others. We’ve kept it as a sanctuary for both guests and wildlife, creating a pollutant-free environment where deer, birds, and other creatures roam freely.

Embracing the natural flora, we forgo a manicured lawn in favor of preserving the mountain's wild beauty. Tucked away on five acres of secluded mountaintop terrain, our cabin provides the perfect blend of serenity and essential comforts. Enjoy free WiFi and Satellite TV while taking in breathtaking panoramic views stretching up to 100 miles.

Inside, you'll find a cozy haven where every detail invites relaxation. The massive logs that frame the cabin create an atmosphere of warmth and intimacy, making it an ideal spot for a romantic getaway or quality time with loved ones.

Mountain Crest is more than just a cabin—it’s a sanctuary where nature, family, and cherished memories come together. Experience the magic of Mountain Crest, where rustic living, wildlife, and the beauty of every season harmoniously converge.

Absolutely awful
This was the worst property we have stayed at this year! Place is infested with flies, dead flies everywhere, we were sitting on the couch and dead flies were literally falling down from the ceiling on us! I have never seen so many flies in all my life, it was horrendous. We were both stung by Yellowjackets, my hand swelled up to double the size, infested with those too! Place is unbelievably dirty, water is disgusting, smells so bad. It says there’s a gas grill, no, there’s a blackstone, and a charcoal grill, not an actual gas grill. For the price I paid to stay here, I expect something decent at least.

Do not recommend...read recent reviews, we didn't and wished we would have
Beautiful views but zero pride of ownership and horrendous customer service. Owner e-mails agreements then doesn't abide by them and them, then tried to get more money from us after the fact. This could be an amazing property if not for an animal living in the roof making it impossble to sleep, vertigo from the fun house floors, rancid meat smell throught the cabin, dead fly carcasses everywhere, bath scum on shower walls, laundry left in the dryer, broken floor joists under deck, 6ft weeds around entire cabin, and so much more. We have stayed in over a dozen places with VRBO and this is my first bad review.

Great Home Base
This cabin served as an excellent home base for our Black Hills vacation. It's about 20 minutes from Lead/Deadwood, both cool little mountain towns

Stay in Cabin 5miles out of Deadwood
The location was great, very remote and quiet. The cabin was okay but the guest bathroom in the upstairs bedroom is locked and kept for owners own use, so we had to use the bathroom in the downstairs utility room, which was not good at night because the stairs are very steep and you need a light on to use them which wakes up your partner. Out side was a bit neglected and needs some care and attention. However we enjoyed our stay but would look for a different cabin next time we visit Deadwood.

BEAUTIFUL VIEW
The view and fire pit were key reasons for staying this far out of town. Well worth it. A bit disappointed with only one bathroom and no doors on bedrooms. This would have changed my decision. Otherwise, big props on no mosquitos!

Stress Free
We have a great time at the cabin. It felt like we were alone on thousands of acres which was so peaceful. The accommodations were as described except they did not mention they had a black stone grill, which we used for smash burgers. Great location for all the attractions but far away from the crowds. We highly recommend.

Perfect Mountain Top Stay
We loved this place! Kitchen was fully stocked with any itmes that we needed. It was sunny and welcoming. Our bed was super comfy and we were able to catch up on our roadtrip laundry. The best part was the firepit and mountain top view - FANTASTIC!

Nice and relaxing!
My family and I have stayed in many VRBO's, and this is probably the most well stocked place we stayed in if you are wanting to do any cooking or grilling. Clean, and pretty secluded.

Great property!
If you want something close to Deadwood, but far enough away to feel secluded - this is the place! Beautiful property about 15-20 minutes from downtown Deadwood. Easy drive to town. Loved the balcony off the bedroom - great place to have coffee and enjoy the view!

Pure relaxation
What a wonderful place to stay! Grounds and cabin were fantastic. And the view absolutely priceless. Was the best trip the wife and i have taken, from the cabin and location to the fun we had in deadwood visiting shops, bars and casinos, trip to devils tower and other fun things to see. Still plenty to come back for and do on our next trip. Communication with the owners was also wonderful. Thanks again for everything!

Wonderful Property
We had an amazing stay at Mountain Crest! It was clean, well kept, and had amazing views. The drive to the property was scenic, but was close enough to Lead if we needed anything, but also close to all the hiking trails. We go to the Black Hills every year, and will be looking to rebook this place next year!

Excellent Retreat
Beautiful setting and has everything you need for a remote woodsy getaway with a fantastic view. The cabin was just as described, very clean and well maintained. We arrived the day of a winter storm warning and the cabin with all the features kept us extremely comfortable, happy, and warm. The roads to the cabin were very well maintained.

What a wonderful property! You could see for miles! Serene, quiet, so much room to move, walk, enjoy nature. The fire pit was beautiful. The home was adorable and so comfortable. The description of the stairs is accurate but very manageable. We will definitely be back!

Magical
This was perfect! Looked for a place to just relax. This is a gem! It truly looked magical with the snow falling and the peaceful walks were splendid. Just what we needed to decompress from Life’s craziness. It’s secluded , peaceful, cozy and so relaxing. The bed was a great nights sleep too. The kitchen is cozy and the wood burning stove kept us very warm. The scenery and view was breathtaking . We loved the quiet and it had great amenities as well. It truly felt like we were in a hallmark movie scene. We loved it and we will be back for sure!

Yet another spectacular stay
This was our second time at this rental and it was just as wonderful as the first. This cabin is a truly special place, it’s cozy, comfortable, well equipped, and even if it weren’t for all these throngs the views, scenery, and location would make staying here worth it. While our adventures likely won’t take us back to the Black Hills again for a while, we hope to be able to return here again in the future.

Black Hills SD Amazing Vacation!
This property is one of the best VRBO rentals we have ever rented. This location in the Black Hills is close to National Parks and monuments, local attractions and everything you could ever wish for in a vacation. The cabin is in an amazing place and so peaceful. It had everything we could ever need including a Blackstone grill. We had never used a grill like this, but we sure learned quickly and cooked only on this grill the entire time we were there. The road to the cabin is very well maintained and we did not have any problems getting around. Great place that we would recoomend!

Secluded cabin with a view
Our family enjoyed the stay, and would recommend to anyone looking for a quiet place in the Black Hills. The pictures and description are accurate, and we were happy we could bring our dog as well. We enjoyed evenings on the deck after busy days sightseeing the area. Only thing I wish I knew ahead of time, coffee is not provided. There is a coffee maker and K cup machine, just need to bring your own coffee. The first morning meant driving 15 minutes to the nearest coffee spot. Not a dealbreaker but a bit of an inconvenience. Overall a great stay, and would stay there again.
