We were looking for a short drive long weekend destination to celebrate our engagement this September and wanted somewhere where we could stay at the resort/hotel/cabins t or around the resort grounds for most of the long weekend, looking for somewhere that had a restaurant that served breakfast, lunch, and dinner, had activities on the grounds, and a pool and was less than a four hour drive from our location north of Pittsburgh. Coolfont definitely looked to fit the bill, advertising many outdoor activities and extensive grounds to walk around and enjoy. Here is a list of pros and cons we found during our long weekend stay September 27-29. Pros: Check In and Restaurant staff were great. Friendly but not overly so, helpful, and enjoyable. The waitress we had for our celebratory dinner on Friday night was especially nice and made our dinner special. We stay in the cabins and they were a nice surprise. We had a deluxe cabin for the two of us, but four more people could have easily stayed with us. The stairs needed to be swept, had a lot of dog hair, and the drain of the whirlpool tub off the master suite was filled with hair, but other than that the cabin was very clean and very comfortable. We heard people complaining that the salt water swimming pool was too cold, but we found it refreshing. I thought having it indoors was nice because it's a great activity for the colder months too. This was a last min weekend getaway, an I absolutely LOVED it the price was reasonable for a last min holiday weekend, very clean, very friendly, the area was quite a peaceful. The town was only 7mins away from the resort were you could shop an eat, as well as seen the history of the town Berkeley springs very beautiful. Would definitely be visiting again.

Cabin with Basic Amenities
Newly remodeled Cabin and we were to first to stay in it. It was clean but you could tell they rushed on some of the remodel(unfinished edges, paint mishaps ect) This is a basic cabin with a small kitchen area and basic furniture. If you are planning to stay with family/friends and want to entertain space is limited and the furniture is NOT for comfort. Couch is from the 70's and cushions kept falling out the back side because they left a board out. Also no internet/Wifi at the Cabins and cells service is spotty. Unfortunately a rain storm came thur on night 2 of our stay and caused a leak in the upper bedroom, soaking one side of the bed. They did come and fix leak and replace bedding but still an inconvenience. The staff was very nice and did their best with any request we had but like stated before this is a basic cabin with very basic amenities.

Great stay for a rustic ambiance
We stayed at the Clover cabin, which was great. It was simple but clean, comfortable, quiet and cozy. The only downside was that the sauna and jacuzzi at the pool were under maintenance so we couldnā€™t used it. Breakfast at the Treetop restaurant was very nice and greatly priced.

The room we had was clean and comfortable. The bed was so comfy! The furniture may have given me a dirty dancing vibe but was fine. Must try the food at the resort. Everything we ate was amazing.

Place could be beautiful if it was updated. Had to buy airfreshners for both rooms to cover the musty smell from old furniture and 70s shag carpet. Dining area has that not clean snell an update would help or a deep cleaning. Fruit flies in the carrots on salad bar. Not that we watch TV on vacation but the olympics are on and we had to watch on our phones. Help finally came on our last night which it still didnt help An over all update would be good. Main building looks abandoned since they dont turn on lights in front part so it looks closed.. On the upside was able to see deer with 3 fawns and a nice buck.
