The Green Mountains provide a fantastic playground for hiking, mountain biking, road biking, leaf peeping, and a variety of other seasonal activities. Conveniently located in the Mad River Valley, the Wilder Farm Inn is a stones-throw away from this recreational haven! Situated on Route 100, often referred to as Vermont's "Skiing Highway," guests will enjoy Sugarbush and Mad River Glen ski resorts just down the road. Offering hundreds of kilometers of groomed trails, downhill enthusiasts, cross country skiers, and snowshoers alike can access this lauded terrain from the Inn's backyard. But winter always gives way to warmer weather, and with it biking, hiking, canoeing, and drinking beer outside - all of which you can easily find here in the valley. We are avid outdoor enthusiasts, and are excited to share our adventures in the Mad River Valley with you.
Summer:
For summer time adventurers, the Mad River offers incredible swimming holes, including just across the street! Borrow a tube, kayak, or paddle board from us and explore the Mad River, Blueberry Lake, of Waterbury Reservoir. Or set out on a swimming hole circuit, dunking in one hole after another as you make your way down the valley.
Fall:
Fall foliage is incredible here in the Mad River Valley! Your stay at Wilder Farm Inn places you at the center of the action. Plan a number of hikes, drives, bike rides, or riverside strolls through the crisp fall air, incredible scenery and changing foliage. Fall is truly one of the best times to visit the valley.
Winter:
Vermont is a winter wonderland. Two major ski resorts, nordic skiing, snowshoeing, fat biking, dog sledding, and more! The Mad River Valley embraces all things winter and is an incredible place to take in all that the season has to offer.

Beer and food lovers rejoice, we love good food and beer too! Vermont's craft beer scene is abundantly fertile! The Mad River Valley area is home to many craft breweries and distilleries and delicious restaurants to accompany your beverages. Self-guided brew tours are available. Food is as it should be here, locally sourced, organic, and humble. Farmers and local food producers are located throughout the Mad River Valley, ensuring a steady supply of delicious, quality, locally grown and unpretentious products. Guests have access to their room(s), the common areas including the kitchen, dining areas, sitting room, and TV room. Guests also have access to most of our property, including fire pit, and game areas.
Plenty of parking for 10-12 cars. Our covered parking solar canopy includes 3 electric vehicle charging stations! Bring your EV and don't stress about the charge!
Wilder Farm Inn has a full time property caretaker in the small facility next door to the Inn. However, during whole-house rentals, the caretakers do not offer daily services, such as room freshening, laundry service, or breakfast. Please respect their private space. If you would like to ask questions or procure other services please inquire directly with us.
The innkeepers quarters is private and is not accessible to guests, even during a whole-house rental.
This listing is for renting the whole farmhouse. Located in beautiful Waitsfield, Vermont, the Wilder Farm Inn has 8 guest rooms, each with a private bathroom, Wi-Fi in all areas of the house, air conditioning, covered parking with electric vehicle chargers and a ton of charm. Three of the rooms also have an additional twin, double, or queen bed. In total, the inn can accommodate as many as 22 guests.
Common areas include our cozy library, replete with a stone fireplace, comfortable seating and many games and books. Our parlor/television room, dining room and wonderfully appointed kitchen beckon groups and families to relax and catch up with each other in the evenings.
Outside you will find hammocks, fire pit, bocce court, garden and the ever popular chicken coop. If you are staying with us in the summer, be sure to check out the Mad River swimming hole right across the street!
We will consider accepting dogs for whole-house rentals on a case-by-case basis. Please inquire upon booking.

While there is train service to Waterbury, and bus service available, it is recommended that travelers have their own vehicle to best experience the valley from the Wilder Farm.

LEFT AND/OR STOLEN ITEMS – Downstream Enterprises is not responsible for any personal item(s) left in the home or any personal item(s) that are stolen during tenants stay. If Downstream is able to recover any personal items left in the home, the guest may choose to have Downstream Enterprises ship the item(s) to the guest for a $50 fee.
