My wife and I stayed in the basement apartment option due to covid concerns and were definitely disappointed by our experience. First off, it was not cleaned all that well. The ceiling fan in our bedroom had thick dust on it (must not have been cleaned in months), the microwave was not wiped out, the blender had sticky brown stuff on it, and the shower had soap spilled in it. The oven was also so dirty that when we tried using it the smoke detector was set off.
However, I think the most pressing issue is just that the whole space was not “complete”. Windows did not have casing around them, baseboard was missing from the wall, and the screen door for the patio door was broken. The space was also not very secure since the door to our space was just a hollow-core interior door that anyone could access through an unlocked exterior door on the side of their garage.
Lastly, the beds were not very comfortable. They all were worn out so that you rolled into the middle of them.
Overall, I think the upstairs experience is probably great based on all the reviews I read, but the basement was not a good option. Especially since we paid $300 a night for it.
