Don't be fooled by the nice lobby.
I thought, nice new hotel and the price was right, it was worth a try. The lobby makes a nice first impression. But the room left a lot to be desired. First of all, no closet or even any hangers. The floor was less than clean. The welcome letter in the room said there would be housekeeping service daily as long as the "Do not disturb" sign wasn't on the door. Housekeeping never came once during my 3-night stay even though I never asked not to be disturbed. No wastebasket in the room except for a very tiny one in the bathroom. So garbage wasn't taken out and there were no clean towels. Most outlets didn't work, and there wasn't even an outlet near the little coffee station. I had to unplug the fridge to use the coffee maker. The first night the smoke alarm was going off in the next room for nearly an hour and hotel staff couldn't turn it off. They had to wait for the fire department to come and shut it off. Artwork in the room was ugly. If I could give zero stars, I would!

Starting with the positive: it’s a pet friendly place, the decor is modern and not as kitschy as a lot of what I’ve seen in the western US, and the bed was one of the most comfortable I have slept on in a hotel. The blackout curtains were very affective and make for a good night’s sleep. I also appreciated that the room had hard floors, not carpet. The neutral: the breakfast was very average or even slightly sub-par and didn’t have many options, especially if you have any kind of dietary restrictions. The negative: the person who checked us in let us know that they had issues with flooding on the second floor. The gym sustained a lot of water damage and wasn’t really useable (although it’s clear that they are working on it). We also noticed water damage on some of the artwork in our room. Not dealbreakers and hopefully issues that will be remedied soon.

This is a newly 6 months or so remodeled older hotel. The lobby looks good, spacious, light filled. The bathroom, and living space new floor and tile. The furniture and bath fixtures are used from Las Vegas hotel, scratch, lots of gold. The TV had several spots with pixels out so always black. Some as big as a quarter. And a crack in the small scratch in the screen that always white.Don’t think the bed was new. I think the biggest issue was the owner went with the cheapest bid for the remodel and it shows. Poor grout job around the tub. Paint roller marks on ceiling coming up from the wall. Two different colors. When you first walk in looks great until you take a closer look. This is why I would say only average hotel. The tub was great, giant size and comfortable to soak in

Lights coming through windows and door made difficult to get a good rest Having only a one night table with only one plug was very uncomfortable for the person on that side The air conditioner was blowing right in my face throughout the night The the bathtub did have very slow drainage so my were feet standing on the water so was hard to get them rinse to get out. There were no blankets and when I asked I was offered a bed spread which one was thin rough texture and no warm that make very uncomfortable to sleep and didn’t provided a good rest I called front desk the first night since the air conditioning blowing next to bed because wasn’t the night table on that I was cold and there was not answer I was told they don’t have a person though out the the night so I wonder if any emergency? ? Rooms were very clean Very nice and helpful staff Breakfast was ok

Check in was quick and easy, the property was quiet aside from 80, which can be expected. The continental breakfast was served around six am, which was great since we were leaving at that time. Facilities were really nice.

We checked in had candy wrappers and crumbs in the drawers, we were offered a new room but when we decided we wanted one they didn’t come thru with a new room. They had hot chocolate spilled on the entrance floor and kids running up and down the halls.

Once again our stay was delightful and restful. Staff was pleasant and responsive. Much appreciate the no extra charge for our four legged traveler. Comfortable beds, thirsty towels and great water pressure in shower. Many breakfast options Would suggest safety bars in shower due to the tub floor curvature.

There were only two towels in the shower. No hand towels or wash clothes. There was no hand soap and we had to use shampoo to wash our hands. Normally hotels have lotion and there was no lotion either. Microwave was absolutely disgusting. I had to boil my babies bottles and had to throw away the kit I used to sterilize the bottles since all the gunk from the microwave got stuck to the sterilizing bag. There was only 2 pillows in bed and since we got there at midnight we couldn’t ask for more. Other than that room was clean, big and newly remodeled.

Hot water took a long time and when it finally came, it lasted about 2 minutes before getting cold again. Room was missing basic supplies like hand soap, hangers, iron, hair dryer.

We had a fantastic stay at the Elkotel. It was very reasonably priced, exceptionally clean and very comfortable. We especially appreciated that pets are allowed to stay for free. Some feedback for the owners since it seems to have been recently opened - we didn't have any hand soap in our room and the kitchenette, which was very handy and included a cooktop, did not come with any equipment like pots, plates, or utensils. We also had a small area to hang clothes, but no hangers. None of these had any major effect on the quality of our stay, just might make future guests more comfortable.

One of the best hotels in Elko
I really liked this hotel. The lobby is very pretty, the rooms are spacious, everything feels clean and new, and the staff were all very friendly. Just a couple minor issues: 1. I really disliked the toiletries. I'm surprised nobody else has mentioned this in their reviews, but the shampoo and conditioner were literally impossible to get out of the bottles. It is too thick for the small hole in the cap, and the cap is impossible to remove when you are wet in the shower. 2. While the pillows and mattress were comfortable, I really didn't like the bedding. It is a very thin, uncomfortable blanket. I prefer fluffier bedding. Other than that, it was very nice, close to restaurants, and I would definitely stay there again.
