Our family really enjoyed our stay at the Stoney Creek Inn in Galena, Il. The staff was more than friendly and kind. The inn had a wonderful pool that was at the perfect temperature as well as a large hot tub. They had mini games around the inn that was a hit for our 6 year old. Can’t wait to return.

I have to say the staff member in the morning at breakfast was on her game. She cleaned and kept up with a full house all weekend. The room was clean, with plenty of clean towels. One thing I have to say is that I'm afraid I have to disagree with the tipping option. If you give a digital tip, not all your tips will go to the rigid working staff member. The digital tipping company receives a not-so-small percentage of your gratitude. I didn't have any cash on me on my last day's stay. I did, however, acknowledge her hard work. So, just because it's a free meal doesn't mean any less work goes into cooking and cleaning. Give your hard worked for cash directly to the lovely, hard-working lady.

This hotel was excellent—one of the best mini-trips. The room was clean and smelled good. The staff was amiable, and I have to say the breakfast was so organized, even with not-so-friendly people eating and making a mess. The staff member running the morning breakfast was fun to watch. She kept the dining area fully stocked and clean. I did steal the pancake maker. We will stay again.

We stayed on the Basement level. Room 4. The carpet was damp and uncomfortable to walk on barefooted or in socks. The staff we told about it said she would leave a message, but apparently did. It because new staff member there said no message was left. The parking area that was convenient to the basement had a trailer parked at the back making getting in and out of parking spot difficult and also there were chairs out there to apparently block off some of the spaces? The bed was very comfortable and the breakfast was excellent. I guess we should have asked to be moved to another level, though. We were hoping maybe for some small compensation for accepting a room like that, that would have made us happier and willing to leave a better review.
