Holidays To Sendai
Perhaps you have a nickname or two. Maybe it’s “Mack”, “Johnny” or “Beth.”
But if you want to visit a land once ruled by a guy named the “One-Eyed Dragon” you need to get to Sendai, Japan.
Located 365 km north of Tokyo, this city knows a thing or two about making an impression. Sendai has the history of Kyoto, the activities of Tokyo and a green landscape all its own. In short, it’s a little bit of everything, and a great place to stop in during your travels through Japan. Come see it for yourself with one of our cheap Sendai packages.
Things to Do in Sendai
If you’re in his ’hood, you have to learn more about the One-Eyed Dragon, also known as Date Masamune. He founded the city 400 years ago, and most of the tourist attractions in the area are in honour of him and his family. Get to know the infamous man when you visit Sendai City Museum, which is home to Zuihoden, his splendid mausoleum.
Another towering presence in Sendai is the Daikannon Statue. If you like big things and you cannot lie, this statue is what you need during your Sendai holiday. Dedicated to the Goddess of Mercy, it’s regarded as one of the tallest statues in the world. It also has a large dragon at her feet to remind you not to take her forgiveness for granted. The Daikannon Statue is a little further out from the city centre than a quick walk, so check out Wotif’s great Sendai car hire options to get you there faster.
Shopping, Dining, Nightlife
Any time is a good time for a shopping spree—especially on holiday. Head to Ichibancho, the popular mall of the area. With all the extra cash you saved from your Sendai package, you can buy new clothes for your night on the town, or souvenirs to bring to your pals back home.
If you’re spending your holiday in Sendai, you have to try Gyutan. What is this soft, meaty delicacy? Beef tongue. And no, we’re not giving you lip service. This dish is famous in the region and served at most restaurants within the city. As we like to say, it’s not a holiday without some tongue.
The nightlife in Sendai is equally as colourful. Hang out in the Kokubuncho area, where there are dozens upon dozens of restaurants, bars and nightclubs. College students tend to make a beeline to this neighbourhood, so if you want to know what the kids are listening to these days, this is your spot. And with the money you saved from our Sendai package deals, you can grab the next round, no problem!
What’s Next?
Don’t put off a trip to Japan any longer. With our deals on Tokyo holiday packages, you can get to the big city and Sendai faster than you can say “one-eyed dragon”. Come for the tongue, stay for the statues, and have a darn good time while doing so!
