Overall positive
Checking in took longer than it should have. Not sure if it was a computer issue but it seemed as though the host was unsure of the process. Also the random $19.99 charge without explanation was confusing but not worth an argument after a long drive. Room was spacious, clean, well-organized, and quiet. The bathroom was modern, clean, and bright. The air conditioning worked well and was quiet, though it did start to feel damp in the morning. Having only two elevators for so many rooms and such a large building is clearly a bottleneck and becomes confusing when everyone needs a different floor. Checking out was also a slower process than it needed to be with very little communication. Overall a pleasant stay and well worth the price if you can find deals for vacant rooms online.

The hotel staff was very helpful with my disability needs. Room service brought a meal to me even though their delivery person had not shown up that night. The front desk sent a wheelchair up to my room very promptly when I asked.

Was a very enjoyable stay..added a day on twice .sble to keep same room Every one was great.. The only thing id love to see is a good breakfast in the hotel..the complimentry breakfast is all carbs and sugars...a little eggs would be helpful..but enjoyed the stay

We enjoyed ourselves at Vernon having never been there. The hotel was clean and beds comfortable with great TV/channels. I was surprised. A great lobby and casino right there. We actually went for the harness races.

Only thing we didn’t like was no continental breakfast on Saturdays and Sundays, only Monday- Friday. Other options weren’t that great. Wait times to be seated and served at Mr P’s were long, and service slow. Other place, Triple 7’s inside casino, wasn’t good either.

Needs some TLC
This hotel is just so-so. They have made an attempt to update some of the rooms and hallways. Overall it’s very old and tired looking. The hotel has an odd musty smell everywhere. The restaurant/food choices are not very good. Our meal at Mr. G’s was sub par. The bar prices were very reasonable. The front desk staff was very pleasant and accommodating. However we did not go for the gambling or horse racing. It was 2 overnights because we had an event in town.

Hotel staff was amazing!!! Guests not so much. Pool area was out of towels fast (wasted) and littered with guest garbage. Hot tub smelled of urine and had “soap scum” floating on top. Pool area extremely hot. No air flow, cannot open doors for fresh air due to insurance reasons. Guests smoking cigarettes at main entrance of hotel always. Buffet in casino, it’s new “again”, was ok but worth $17. Kids are allowed in restaurants. Saturday meat and seafood choices are not what you would expect. Peel and eat shrimp, and carved meat was good. Not really a meat /seafood night. Again, just getting started again son the pandemic. Every utensil was filthy due to guests NOT staff and not everyone used provided hand sanitation prior to getting food. No room service available, although offered. No ev charging available- we searched. Hotel is dated but clean. No complimentary coffee available anywhere on weekends. Continental breakfast, free, only on weekday's. Very close to Utica/Rome speedway for Friday night dirt racing.

The rooms were clean. Overall, the property is a little shabby around the edges. Flower beds full of weeds, some wallpaper peeling by the elevator, and chipped enamel in the tub, for example. There was a reception in a room just down the hall from us, and it was quite noisy until after 11:00 at night

We always enjoy the clean and roomy accommodations. Decent price. Perfect size casino. We’d love to see video roulette or video blackjack added. I do think their food choices need help. The buffet closes too early and we miss it every time we’re there. The breakfast spot is understaffed and the wait is ridiculous. Maybe continuing the continental breakfast on weekends would help. Also, why is it ok for the kids to walk thru to the buffet but not to the breakfast place? There’s a dedicated entrance and a wall up separating the casino. One staff told us to walk around the outside of the building. Another staff met us at the door and told us no kids allowed. Long outside wall in the heat for nothing. We just checked out and ate elsewhere. Boo
