We always have the best time here. The location is the absolutely best and the cabin is what you should expect for the very very reasonable price. I have stayed here maybe 5-6 times now, with kids & with friend and it never disappoints.

Weekend getaway with an extra guest!
When we entered the cabin we’re we overcome by a strong smell of urine. When we opened the sleeper sofa we discovered the source of the smell. A mouse had made its home in the sleeper sofa mattress and there was a football sized nest. The mattress was loaded with mouse droppings. After cleaning the sofa sleeper up ourselves, our little furry friend paid us a visit and scurried up and around the sofa before disappearing. I believe we should not have to pay any cleaning fees after doing the cleaning ourselves!

It’s perfect for one or two ppl that are in the area for hiking or fishing and don’t want to camp. It has everything you need and is right on the river. Incredibly peaceful stay, 15 min from Viroqua or Kickapoo Valley Reserve. It’s a great location right outside of Viola.

One night visit.
There was a mix up with the cabin I rented. There was another party at the same time which ended up being ok. I was able to check in earlier than I could. However, when I got into the cabin there was mouse droppings, and cobwebs. I had to clean even before I could get comfortable. I brought an air mattress to sleep on alot easier than having to go up a ladder. As soon as you step outside I smelt what I thought was just the water, I was wrong, it was the garbage dumpster not too far away. It was adequate for one night.

Great location but not overly comfortable
This location was beautiful, the river was lovely to watch and the deck and picnic table were great. However - porta potty was clearly not emptied regularly as it was VERY full and smelled awful. You could smell it over the bonfire smoke and in the cabin itself. Cabin wasn't very clean and sheets were rough and the bed was an older mattress on lift floor. The inclusion of a box fan was really helpful.

So if you are boujee, this is not for you. Upon entering the light switches do not work. The lamp in the corner does. Very rustic. I like to camp so....no faucet on sink. No hot water. Had to boil water to clean up. Too trashed to figure out ladder. Slept on couch. Love the sounds of the river flowing by. Like i said, if you are boujee, not for you. Ill be back.

Blakly Hobbit House
This property is absolutely wonderful - it actually looks like a place hobbits would live. It's right next to a beautiful creek and has lots of open space with a fire pit. The house is definitely rustic - no frills but clean and very neat. LOVE this place!

The property is small, aging and rustic. This is a perfect place for a small group (2-3) looking for a DIY camping/fishing trip. Bring a padlock if you want to lock the cabin up. We also brought our own plates/utensils, portable toilet and bag camp shower (and tarp to hang up for privacy). If you are not into roughing it take a pass but if you need a old fashioned backwoods get away this is your spot!

The property is fine for what it is, but we felt misled by the listing. We were expecting temperature control and a bathroom. We arrived at night and only saw one bed (ad said it sleeps 1-5). There is a porta potty, and no bathing facility. You can bolt the cabin door while you are inside, but can't lock the door with belongings inside if you leave (which we didn't learn until after paying). Some of the boards on the deck were a little loose. Don't expect a reasonably comfortable stay - definitely rustic. Signage was poor as well. Showing up past dark, it was hard to figure which cabin was ours.

When I don't stay with friends in Driftless Wisconsin, I stay at Blakley Hobbit! Preferably the mini cabin which is nicely situated overlooking the West Fork of the Kickapoo River. Cabin is tiny but perfect for a couple or even with kids. Very rustic of course but the time spent is mostly outside and the porch and fairytale like bonfire corner is just perfect!

Two night trout fishing getaway
Great adventure in the middle of many good trout streams. The hobbit house was also an adventure for my daughter and I . It has mostly the essentials, perhaps a teapot, frypan, 2 glasses, and 2 mugs, and toilet paper would have been nice, but improvising on the fly was part of the fun. It was perfect for us and we are already planning a return, hopefully when the weather cooperates and we don't pick two days of rain!

Nasty
Smells like urine and rotten fish (really strong). I think people must be peeing on/around the deck so they don't have to walk to the outhouse. No screens on windows so you can't even let it air out. So hot at night when you can't open windows. Broken steps. Broken bannister. No TP in outhouse. Ants inside the cabin (more like a shed). The tree over the cabin sheds some kind of super sticky gunk that you can't get off your stuff. Gotta where shoes to climb to the bed and climb back down. I left a day early and got a hotel. Nobody even checked on me the entire time- Door is just open when you get there (no locks)

Stayed here quite a few times now, small and little cabin and we enjoy the little cabin the most (2-3 people). We spend our time outside by the scenic fire place, by the river or the awesome deck overlooking the river. The inside of cabin is rustic and simple just like it should be. Best regards

Mini vaca with my boyfriend
Property was just what we needed: quiet small place enough for us and our dog to stay. Great location to go explore wildcat mountain state park and the Kickapoo. We also appreciated the bar chips for local bars/restaurants in the area left in there. Some areas for improvement: -no check in information listed on the cabin, you just kinda show up hoping you can figure it out -garbage under the porch and surrounding area could be picked up. I understand the river washes a lot up but it would be nicer if that were more picked up Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would most definitely book again. Thank you much for the accommodations
