Convenient to roads in Wausau area
This clean property is located at major roads (jackhammer at a local school at 4:45am on one summer morning; 11pm sirens only one other evening) with quiet neighbors.
Our group was myself and my spouse, plus our 9 year old youngest. She was most comfortable on the low camp cot we brought along and did not use the provided air bed nor the pull out couch.
Most items were set up for 2 people, not 3-4, including the number of provided plates, silverware, and towels. We are a pretty minimalist family who camps so it didn’t bother us, but just wanted to mention it for any families of four who are considering this stay.
We chose to close up the house during the warm 78-80F hours (10am - 6pm), using the ceiling fans in the kitchen and bedroom, plus two box fans. Then as the temp lowered below 74F, we opened the windows wide for the night time temps that dipped down to 62F. There was a provided window air conditioner which we opted not to use since we prefer fresh air.
We walked 10min to a playground at the river trail, then another 20 minutes to downtown Wausau. Most of the walks we took were in residential neighborhoods or the river trail. We also drove from this stay location to St Paul, MN, the Leinenkugel brewery in Chippewa Falls, the Apostle Islands, and state parks near Wausau. The stay is close to major roads so it was easy to get in and out of town.
One tip if you’re coming from the south is to shop for all your major grocery items as you enter Wausau.
