Contemporary art and boutique wine join forces at this family-run winery.

Mistletoe Wines is one of the few wineries that combines the flavours of the Hunter Valley region with the artistic talents of the locals. Visit the vineyard, taste the boutique wines and browse the contemporary art gallery and sculpture garden.

At the beginning on the 20th century a winery called Mistletoe occupied a plot of land just north of Pokolbin. A century later, the current family-run establishment has adopted the original name and is developing a reputation as one of the finest boutique wineries in the Hunter Valley.

Mistletoe produces limited runs of wine, adhering to a quality-over-quantity motto. Its range is wide, but the wines are often produced in such small batches that they are sold exclusively at the cellar door. Wine connoisseurs will appreciate the unique blend and even those who are less up-to-date with the various types of wine will recognise a good drop.

Relax on the patio as you enjoy the wines and the views across the valley and mountains. Mistletoe offers twilight tasting sessions on the patio throughout summer. In winter, the tastings are hosted in front of a roaring fire. Your knowledgable hosts will walk you through the processes used in creating each wine, and help you chose the right one for you.

Make your way to the cellar of the winery to discover one of the Hunter Valley’s best-kept secrets. The Pokolbin Art Gallery features paintings, ceramics and specialist woodturning from the region, all of which can be purchased.

Outside, explore the Mistletoe Sculpture Garden. Stroll through the picturesque vineyard to discover the many quirky and modern sculptures, set against the stunning backdrop of the Brokenback Mountains.

Mistletoe Wines is located on the outskirts of Pokolbin, in heart of the Hunter Valley. Entry is free and there is free parking on site for those who decide to drive here, though many people come here as part of a wine tour of the region. If you’d rather take public transport, the Rover Coaches bus route has stops in Pokolbin. The winery is closed on Christmas Day.
