Snakes Downunder Reptile Park and Zoo is an exciting wildlife destination in Childers. The whole family will love this hands-on reptile park, where kids can feel the scaly spines of a baby saltwater crocodile and watch an educational snake show. Explore a range of exhibits featuring the wide world of reptiles and check out the zoo’s vivarium. Not just for creatures with scales, the Snakes Downunder Reptile Park and Zoo also has a collection of koalas, kangaroos and emus.
Enter the reptile park to begin your discovery of over 45 species of Australian reptiles, amphibians and marsupials. Walk through the snake house and vivarium to see the zoo’s collection of slithering snakes, lizards, dragons and frogs. Learn about the different species from Queensland and beyond on a guided tour.
Attend the snake show and see some of the park’s venomous snakes in action. This show features the top five most venomous snakes in the world. Afterward, you can handle a python and touch a saltwater crocodile or watch the fascinating creatures being fed their lunch.
Visit the koala enclosure to meet the zoo’s three resident koalas. Learn more about these furry critters at the daily koala talk and get your photograph taken with the gumleaf-eating marsupials. Make your way through the kangaroo and emu reserve, where these charismatic creatures can be hand fed. Stop by the zoo’s kiosk for a snack or bring a picnic to enjoy at the picnic tables.
Snakes Downunder Reptile Park and Zoo is located near Childers and is less than an hour’s drive from Bundaberg, Hervey Bay and Maryborough. There is discounted admission for children, families, students and seniors. Admission includes three reptile shows, handling sessions, a koala talk, guided tours and access to the kangaroo reserve. There is no charge for taking photographs within the park, but a small fee applies for the koala encounter. The park is closed on Wednesdays, Easter Friday, Christmas Day, Boxing Day and April 25. Parking is available on site.
