When it comes to beaches, the Sunny Coast is in a league of its own. Golden-sandy seashores are strung along this region's Coral Sea coastline, providing plenty of space for beachgoers to play all day. Chase perfect surf breaks or find your own secluded patch of sand sheltered by pine-studded headlands.
For protected waters and a stylish beachfront shopping district, check out Noosa Main Beach. Lifeguards patrol this north-facing beach, making it ideal for families. Other safe swimming spots can be found at Mooloolaba Beach. The nearby theme parks make Mooloolaba a popular choice for a day out.
With great surf, patrolled waters and a waterfront village, Caloundra's beaches tick a lot of boxes. Check out Kings Beach and you might catch live music at the beachfront amphitheatre. Nearby, Shelly Beach has a series of rock pools, which are fun to explore with the kids.
Boaters and anglers will love the calm waters at Golden Beach, while surfers keep a watchful eye on the swell at Alexandria Bay. The local all-rounder is Coolum Beach, which has great swell, a grassy foreshore and a laid-back atmosphere. Further afield, Rainbow Beach connects Noosa to World Heritage-listed Fraser Island.
