Heavenly Ski Resort
Enjoy skiing, snowboarding, mountain biking, climbing and partying at this massive resort with heavenly views of Lake Tahoe and the desert.
Heavenly Mountain Resort lives up to its name; it is the place to be in Lake Tahoe in winter. This is the biggest ski resort in the area, with the highest peak, the longest vertical drop, some of the best terrain parks, and the best views. Thanks to its rocky trails and lakeside location, it offers plenty of activities in summer too. Daredevils, partygoers and nature lovers flock here year-round.
Heavenly Mountain is 10,067 feet (3,068 meters) high and offers four base stations from which to access the slopes. Step aboard the gondola to ride to the top for a great photo opportunity. Tamarack Lodge serves food and drinks while you take in the sweeping views of the lake and mountains. This is also the resort’s entertainment center, so come back after your day outdoors for “happy hour” with discounted drinks and food as well as live music.
The ski season at Heavenly runs from November to mid-April, thanks to regular snowfall and man-made snow. Some of the 97 runs and 30 lifts allow you to slalom through California and Nevada on the same day. You can purchase a lift pass that also includes access to the nearby Northstar and Kirkwood resorts. Heavenly has slopes for all levels of skiers, the longest descent being a luxurious five miles (eight kilometers). Ski and snowboard lessons for all levels of athletes are available. You can also rent a ski bike for a novel way to navigate some of the trails.
For group rides, head to Tubing Hill to rent a ski tube. Visit one of the many eateries for lunch if you have worked up an appetite. For those of legal drinking age, the ultimate après-ski fun is the Unbuckle party near the peak. Afterwards, take the gondola down to Tahoe South for the nightlife. You can walk to the casinos in Nevada.
Heavenly Mountain Resort in Tahoe South has all the amenities you need but doesn’t offer on-site accommodation. It’s an hour’s drive from Reno–Tahoe International Airport, and connected by express shuttle services. The gondola takes you from the resort village to the mountain.
Welcome to the jewel of California. Perched near the Nevada border, Heavenly Mountain Resort brings a little something special to the already majestic Lake Tahoe area: 4,800 acres of skiable terrain with some of the most unique groomers in the region. To ski Heavenly is to know paradise, and thousands of travelers flock to its ski vacation packages to revel in the perfect weather, manicured snow and a host of low prices and discount deals. The ski tours at Tahoe are just that good.
Though Heavenly Resort is a top year-round destination, its winter ski packages are understandably popular. Book your lift tickets and ski rentals, and you’ll get access to five terrain parks and nearly 100 runs designed to suit beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels. What’s more, the expansive lift system lets you discover the peaks in the blink of an eye; nab tickets for the high-speed gondolas, aerial trams, magic carpets, or passenger chairs, and get ready to start your ski vacations in style.
Searching for some serious adventure? Heavenly Valley Ski Resort has you covered on that front, too. Technical steeps get your adrenaline pumping, the back-country terrain parks are endlessly exciting, and the Heavenly snowboarding areas let you take a pass at some killer runs. Night skiing and heli skiing opportunities are also just a stone’s throw from the area, and the local ski school lets you test your skills before you hit the CA slopes. Grab your skis — or book those rentals — and get ready for your best season yet.
