Experience face-to-face encounters with friendly animals and deadly predators. Adventure Aquarium exhibits over 8,500 different creatures housed in four themed zones.
Begin your tour in Zone A, where the Ocean Realm exhibit allows you to watch sharks, stingrays and turtles through huge panoramic windows. Marvel at the colors of Caribbean fish, learn about the life of piranhas in the Amazon rainforest and get the chance to touch a shark. Meet little blue penguins at the recreation of an Australian beach. Move on to Zone B to handle different species of rays.
In Zone C, the Kidzone and Gill’s Grotto have hands-on educational exhibits aimed at younger visitors. They’ll get to see curious species such as the Argentine horned frog and the chocolate chip sea star. Go on an entertaining underwater voyage at the 3-D movie theater and touch multicolored invertebrates at the Creature Feature pool.
Spot more sharks, including sandbar, tiger and zebra sharks, at the viewing bridge and walk-through tunnel in Zone D. Witness feedings and a day in the life of African hippos at the Hippo Haven exhibit. Zone E is the dining and retail area. Have a meal of burgers, hotdogs, Philadelphia-style cheesesteak and pretzels. Purchase marine-inspired gifts, artwork and souvenir photos.
Find the aquarium north of Wiggins Park & Marina, which is part of the Camden Waterfront district. Pay to park adjacent to the aquarium building. Public buses travel between the attraction and Downtown Camden. A ferry service also crosses the Delaware River to the waterfront of Philadelphia’s Center City district.
Adventure Aquarium is open daily. There is an admission fee, which gives access to all exhibits, feedings and live shows. Additional fees are applicable for personal encounters with sea turtles, sharks and penguins. Visit the aquarium’s official website for more information.
