We feel our Guest Wing; 2 bedroom 2 bathroom private self-contained accommodation at Anakiwa 401 with full kitchen, dining area, TV lounge and sitting rooms, makes for the special retreat for a couple or a perfect getaway base with friends or your family (sorry our property is suitable for children over 12 years only). Located in the stunning Marlborough Sounds with road access to Picton 30 min, Havelock 20 min, Blenheim & Marlborough Wineries 45 min and Nelson 75 min, and right on the waterfront, ideal for kayaking, paddleboarding, fishing (we have a mooring available if you want to bring your boat) in picturesque Anakiwa with walking and biking trails a plenty at your doorstep.
The Guest Wing’s north facing aspect captures the sun so is warm but for added comfort, it is double-glazed and has a heat pump. Despite Anakiwa 401 being one of the oldest homes in the bay, built in 1926, we've lovingly renovated it to retain its historic charm. With its homely yet spacious atmosphere, it comfortably accommodates four people and offers a relaxed setting for your next Marlborough Sounds holiday adventure.
In the two bedrooms (one double bed with ensuite, and a second bedroom located a few steps away from the house for additional privacy, is a twin room with two king single posturepedic beds), we provide all bed linen and both bathroom and beach towels, along with complimentary toiletries and hairdryer in each bathroom. You’ll also have use of our extensive facilities including kayaks to explore the bay, unlimited wifi, BBQ and outdoor dining and gardens to relax in.
We live on-site in a separate part of the house, and are always available to help you with any queries you may have, local information and advice on what there is to do in the area. We have lived here for almost 16 years now and really enjoy sharing our place of paradise with others. Equally, we're happy for you to experience our Guest Wing in private.
We want our guests to leave Anakiwa 401 Guest Wing relaxed and feeling like they have really discovered a magical part of New Zealand. By waking to the dawn chorus of native NZ birds such as tuis, bell birds, fantails, wood pigeons that frequent our gardens, enjoying a walk through the beech forest at the end of the Queen Charlotte Track to the safe sandy beach of Davies Bay, going kayaking on the Sound where you may see sea birds, penguins, seals or dolphins, to listening to the moreporks and seeing the glowworms in the evenings, whilst admiring the amazing stars of the night sky.
The closest supermarkets are in Havelock, Picton and Blenheim. You can also have your groceries delivered by Fresh Choice Picton or Countdown Blenheim.
Although we charge no cleaning fee, we appreciate our guests looking after and leaving our home as they find it, except washing the bedding - you can leave that to us :)
