Upon arriving later in the evening after a 6 hour drive, because we came after work, they met us outside of the property when we pulled up to tell us they gave our room away that we had reserved a long time in advance and even paid for in advance. They proceeded to tell us that they were moving us to another hotel of their choice but that they were still charging us for theirs. They also proceeded to tell us that since we booked 3rd party we were put on the low priority list and our room was given away first when they “overbooked” their hotel for the night. Terrible way of doing business. Don’t book here if you hope to have a room for sure when you arrive and don’t bother booking by third party or you will be treated as less than the other guest! Will not be booking this hotel ever again.

Great hotel in the heart of Des Moines
It was our first stay here but it won't be our last. Beautiful hotel, restaurant and hang out space. Fun and attentive staff. Definitely our new go to hotel when we visit Des Moines.

Beautiful hotel downtown. Our son got married at the courthouse and its' a one minute walk. We also got to experience the fair they were having downtown. That was about a 2 min walk to get to it. The only thing I would say is, if you are a light sleeper, you will hear EVERYTHING outside your room with any late-night people going down the hallway. Also the outside noises as well.

This has become our go to stay when in Des Moines - we love the area. Hotel is an older building very recently and excellently renovated - always clean. Very walkable. .
