I booked with Expedia and I made sure not to book an accessible room. When I checked in, Ruth the front desk staff said that Expedia booked me in an accessible room. I asked if there were other rooms, as I was willing to pay the difference and she said no. She said there were only kitchenettes. However, when I checked into my room, I checked the hotel’s website and there were other room types available. I checked in at 9:00pm so I am not sure if they would have had an abundance of guests checking in after me. Unfortunately, not the best customer service. The room was spotless and the breakfast area was also clean and looked like a great selection of options.

The hotel is old and dirty. Bed underneath the memory foam mattress was filled with grit and black spots. Carpet had black spots on it. Shower holder did not work. Sink had calcium build up, thus the water shot out strongly. Doors are not soundproof, my deadbolt lock did not work. The chain lock was hanging by the screws. Neighbor was on the phone till late into the morning. 3-4 am. Soundproofing was poor, I could hear what they were saying clearly through the walls and it stopped me from sleeping. Athabasca has limited dining spots and feels overall unsafe.
