I booked the Columba hotel well in advance (Expedia) and paid $240 (including taxes). This hotel is not worth anything close to that. It looks like a cool old hotel from the outside but inside it was dingy and run down.

Shower curtain ripped almost all the way off. Water went everywhere. Told front office staff after our first day and they did not do anything to correct it. Hair in the shower upon arrival. Place is older but doesn't mean it has to be dirty and it was just not clean.

The staff seem as if they could not care less. When they finally got us checked in, the room was a disaster. It smelt like mildew and apparent water damage. The bedding didnt appear clean, the AC was broken, windows wouldnt open, the view that we paid $700 for was entirely blocked by scaffolding litered with beer bottles. The ONLY good thing i can say is i turned around immediately and asked for a refund and they obliged us. We walked literally next door to the Inverness best western. It was $200 less, the roo. Was one of the most amazing I've every stayed in and they treated us like valued guests. The breakfast was to die for, and theres a starbucks on site. Go to the Best Western, you won't regret it.

Disappointing. Advertised as having a restaurant so booked dinner bed and breakfast. Restaurant not open in evening so dinner was in bar from poor bar menu. Would have gone somewhere nicer had we known. OK for B&B but no more. Would not recommend as hotel.

Columba Hotel - Inverness
Upon arrival at the hotel, we were not asked if we had stayed there before & not passed on any information regarding the hotel or meals or anything. Once we confirmed the name pf the booking we were just handed over the room key & told how to find the room. Once we got to our room our "river view" was heavily obstructed with scafolding due to work being carried out to the front of the hotel, again we had not been informed of this prior to arival & the rate had not been adjusted accordingly to.reflect. Also the workmen had a radio playing quite loud directly outside our room window!! We chose the Ness Suite, which albiet was spacious & comfortable. But when we opened the fridge in the room we found a half drunk bottle of fresh orange juice & 2 x yogurts left if the fridge.... this would obviously lead to question the level of cleanliness although we didn't find any other hygiene issues. The next issue was found when we went down for a drink prior to having a meal, the bar itself was nice & the barmaid was nice & freindly. On the website it claims you can eat in the bar or the restaurant, however the barmaid informed us we had to eat in the bar as the restaurant was only for the coach guests!! Then on checking out, the staff did not ask anything about the stay or if there was any issues. Overall a very poor experience & certainly not the experience you would expect, reading the webpage the experience is found somewhat contradictory to the informtaion on the site.

This was nice hotel, kind of pretty much what I expected. The room was really good size and the bathroom is also really good size and as typical in Scotland blistering hot water and all you want. My only criticism of the hotel was they have a very, very strict 3 PM check in time and the woman at the Front counter was quite curt about it and said no you can’t check in at all and you just leave your baggage in the luggage unsecured and come back after 3 o’clock and we’ll try to check you in. We were in room 310 that had two twin beds, which was fine for vacation. Just so you know there’s no air conditioning , which is also pretty typical but just be aware. They have an elevator, which is super helpful and the bar is great. I didn’t eat in the restaurant, but it did look good.

The bed was uncomfortable and had roll together. The shower was over a high bath with no slip mat provided. The barman made terrible cocktails. The cleanliness of the room could certainly be improved particularly in the shower/bath. We knew it was an old building with character but it needs a lot of improvement with services. It is a great location sadly no river views due to scaffolding of which we were not made aware of until arrival. Fairly disappointed customers.

We specifically reserved a canal view suite. When we got there, the entire view was covered by a construction facade. The employee at the desk tried to argue with me and said it was not the hotels fault, but I looked again at their website and it was not mentioned anywhere. Also the bathroom was dirty and the hot water made a very loud noise that shook the walls anytime anyone used the shower or bathroom. Save yourself the headache and stay literally anywhere else in this area. This place is the WORST!

The property was in a poor state of repair. Our executive room was shrouded in debris netting and we couldn’t see out of the window. The wallpaper in the room was in poor condition and the bed was under a comb ceiling, hardly executive. The staff were not really interested when I raised a complaint and dutifully processed a refund of the full amount of the booking. It can only be a matter of time before this hotel closes its doors for a full refurb
