London Holiday Packages

Location was terrific. About a 15 minute walk to Lord's Cricket Ground and 2 minutes to Warwick Ave tube station (and then 13 mins to Picadilly Circus - central London). Was a very safe and clean area and felt safe walking late at night. Unfortunately there are a number of issues with the way this hotel is operated that if fixed, would mean it was a real winner. From the moment we arrived (and continued all through our stay - which was a week) management seemed to be telling staff off - from full blown yelling to hushed whispers in corners...at times it felt like we were in an episode of Fawlty Towers. The bed was really bad - it wasnt a proper bed but rather like two divan pieces put together and the mattress was so old that it would have easily folded in half and the springs stuck out. When I said something after the first morning their solution was to put a board between the mattress and the 'base'. They need to invest in new beds. If we had not pre-paid we would have left. What really disappointed us though was how my partner was treated when he tried to order room service one night. He was shouted at while trying to order via phone and then shouted at by the chef/wait staff when he went down to the restaurant when he tried to order from an "updated" menu and told that was not a valid menu (reception had given him one). There was no apology etc from reception staff. On checkout we weren't offered for a taxi to be called or asked how our stay was.

I loved this property for it's location and space. The fact that you could do your washing at no extra cost. You can stay in your room all day if sick and n ot be disturbed by housekeeping. There is a place that does great coffee just across the street on the corner so easy to nip out and back again
