Dramatic sustainable house designed for relaxed holiday living by Mapleton local Philip Boorman who has many awards for his outstanding Architectural work and modern furniture designs.
Located on the escarpment in the centre of the 125 acre site. This privileged isolation has allowed the house design to be opened to the volume of the surrounding private space by the extensive use of timber framed bi-fold doors and windows. Solar panels generate the power supply and roof water is collected in tanks for filtered reuse within the home.
When John Seccombe obtained the land by way of the selection process in 1904 the original survey plan of the day noted that \"All the country here on shown is of an Extremely Rugged and Broken nature.\" This rugged landscape has protected the area from the encroachment by subdivisions for over 100 years, providing flora and fauna with largely undisturbed area for species listed as endangered, such as the Coxen Fig-Parrot and the Regent Honey eater\'s to thrive.
