We booked the Midtown Hotel in New Orleans through Expedia because the price was more affordable. The first impression at the reception was good: the space was clean, organized, and smelled nice. Unfortunately, the experience worsened significantly after that.
We received our keys and headed to the parking lot, which was filled with construction materials. The elevator was another issue: extremely dirty, with a very worn-out and neglected appearance.
When we reached the fourth floor, where our room (number 424) was located, we were greeted by a strong smell of marijuana, even though we had signed a no-smoking agreement during check-in. Inside the room, things got even worse: there was a strong odor of mold and dust, unfinished walls with visible plaster, and poorly done repairs, such as holes in the ceiling covered only with filler.
The room was extremely basic, with only a bed and a table. The toilet bowl was loose, posing a risk of falling, and the overall environment felt unsafe and neglected. Thankfully, the mattress was in good condition, but we brought our own pillows, which helped a little.
I definitely do not recommend this hotel. It seems they are operating in the middle of a renovation, putting guests in unfinished rooms to keep the place running. It was a very bad experience, and we will certainly not return.
