My family & I stayed at the Hilton PDC for 6 nights. Perfect location to 5th Ave. Our check in was pretty smooth. Our swim up suite was clean and spacious for 3 adults. We expected 2 queen beds (on their web site) and they were full beds..disappointing. The jacuzzi tub was obnoxious and was situated awkwardly in the room. The facilities were really nice and well maintained. Options for food were limited and menus didnt change but the food was good. The staff are AMAZING! and went out of their way to make us feel comfortable! A big shout out to Roberto Tapia in the lounge area super friendly guy and works his butt off! Our breakfast at Spice Restaurant was always enjoyable with our server Miguel Arcos!! Pool area is a bit tight but the Entertainment staff are great, always smiling and super energetic. The beach was a huge let down! Overall, we enjoyed our stay!

The resort was all around a great experience! For those that are picky eaters they don’t have much option which I would like. For example in the 24 hour lounge put some chips,cookies and snacks that are a wide variety. But loved the resort! The entertainment staff was the bomb as well.

Unfortunately, I believe this will be the final time I will stay at this particular facility as I was disappointed with two main occurrences: 1. Upon my arrival and check-in (I got there around 12pm and the room was not ready, yet, which was known and ok as per normal hotel protocol). However, the attendant assured me that at 2pm that I would be on the 4th floor in close approximation where my friend's room was located. When I came back at the time of room retrieval a different attendant placed me on the 3rd floor. Though voicing a complaint the attendant said that there was nothing she could do and that I must stay where she put me. 2. Through the onsite "Hilton Playa Del Carmen" excursion booking service "Mexico Travel Solutions (MTS)" I booked a tour to Chechen Itza on a specific day and time. Regrettably, I got sick on the day of the event and was not able to go on the tour. When I went back to the desk to see if I could get my money back the attendant indicated that all he could do was to book another day for me to go. This was an impossibility due to the fact that I had other events slated for the remaining days of my stay. Also, the attendant indicated that I would need to drive to Cancun (1 hr. away) to see a doctor to make the situation official. These two items conjunctively put a stain on my stay there at the Hilton. Throughout my over 20 years staying in that portion of Mexico, I never had to deal with these type of mismanaged type of issues.

Really great experience at the Hilton Playa Del Carmen, the food options is good and the staff is really courteous and friendly. Lots to do on 5th Ave as well and it is a great spot.

Great facilities and friendly staff. Dinner was poor. Breakfast and lunch was fine. It was really annoying being harassed by staff trying to get you to buy something every time you walk through the lobby. Made it feel like a cheap resort experience. The concierge literally called waking us up in the morning trying to sell an excursion. Good value for the money but we wouldn’t go back.

Everything was nice ! The shows and entertainment was spot on. Loved that you could walk around playa del Carmen at night safely. The food was delicious. Con: Not a lot of beach area. Just a small strip in front of the hotel.

The Royal was much better before Hilton took over. The food quality is way down. The maintenance on the property itself is lacking. The staff was great but they are limited to their ownership. It should also be noted that the beach is nearly non existent. I have stayed at the Royal nearly 10 times in the past. We will find a new destination next year.
