No toilet paper on arrival. Reception toilets were very dirty. Mattress was hard and very uncomfortable. Glad we never stayed any more nights. Would have asked for a refund. 😖

The property is nothing fancy. The room was ordinary. Only gave us 2 creamers and 2 tea bags in the room which is not enough for people like us who want hot drinks in the afternoon, evening and breakfast time. There is no nice lounge to relax in. No breakfast is provided.

We booked this room before leaving the airport When we arrived they said they had no booking even though we had the confirmation from wotif. The hotel would not check us in … after 2 hours they said they would check us in if we sign a piece of paper saying that if the confirmation didn’t go through we would pay x amount … $55 more then wotif. It was 11:30 at night by now and we had been flying 9 hours before so we agreed Management said for our inconvenience they would give us free breakfast .. thank you we said…The luggage trolly had our luggage on it in the foyer but the luggage guy would not take it to the room for us … he said we could take the Tilly with us but needed to bring it back down once we were done … we did not take it back down …. we went to our room and contacted Wotif … Wotif did all they could and finally rang the hotel and sorted it all out … it was 1am by this stage …. The hostel then rings our room and said yes we got your confirmation so now the complimentary breakfast was cancelled …..We couldn’t believe it ! The room was very tacky bed was hard tv didn’t work no complimentary water and you had to step up and over a large bath to get into the shower that had a nozzle you had to hold as it would not stay in the holder and there was mild in the shower. in the morning we found an envelope under the door saying that a complimentary breakfast was now available to us again …. We could not get out of this hotel quick enough ….

One Nights stay
After booking a nights stay at Hotel Chancellor i felt a bit aprihensive after reading some reviews. So here is my opinion. The hotel checking staff were lovley, friendly and helpful. Yes the hotel is a bit dated,, and she has a few battle scars for her age, but don't we all? 😁 The room was clean and comftable, Aircon worked excellent. The shower had GREAT preasure. Free Wifi works well. if you want a modern, renovated hotel, expect to pay more. Hotel Chancellor is all you need for the price you are paying.

Would not recommend
Location is convenient with lots of shopping, food, and public transport options within walking distance. However, the hotel itself is quite disappointing. There was a weird stench in the room once I opened the door. I found a piece of hair on one of the pillowcases. I left my carry-on sized suitcase with the concierge during check-out and was given a tag to claim it later. When I arrived again in the evening, there was no one at the luggage counter, but my suitcase was left unattended in front of the counter. I helped myself to my suitcase, sat in the lobby for 10 minutes and no one even asked about it. I couldn't help but think that anyone could've walked in during the day and walked out with my suitcase. Needless to say, I'm quite disappointed with my experience at this hotel.
