The hotel has a lovely feel to it, great bar and the staff are pleasant. The room we stayed in was spacious, quiet and clean although the armchair in the room (205) should have been thrown out years ago. Also get frustrated with air-conditioning in a lot of hotels these days. Set for 18C but even after 2 nights stay had only dropped from 21C to 20.5C - very frustrating! The hotel is in a fantastic location expecially if (as we were) going to a concert at the Sydney Opera House. Plus major gardens across the road to explore

I liked the old world charm and room facilities except that I couldn’t open the balcony doors to see the fireworks one night. I think maybe the balcony wasn’t safe to stand on. The staff were very pleasant, helpful and attentive. Great location to visit Circular Quay, the go on the ferries, indulge at the eateries and take the train to the Town Hall to go shopping.

Definitely leaning into the faded glamour trope. I bet this place was THE place to stay in the 90’s. Now it’s still lovely but the wallpaper is warping (not a metaphor but it could be). Look, I would happily stay there again but it could do with some maintenance.

Our room was a good size. The toilet was in a separate room off the large bathroom which had a separate bath and shower recess and double wash basin.. The reception/ foyer , dining area and indeed the whole hotel, felt warm and was welcoming with its antique furniture and paintings. The hotel is within walking distance to Circular Quay, the opera house and The Rocks area.

The Sir Stamford is like stepping back into the gilded age! Ornate oils on the wall, rich furnishings and gilded mirrors. Lovely atmosphere, marble bathrooms are beautiful ( although perhaps the hand held shower could be improved- the bracket would not hold the nozzle in place). Staff were friendly and professional.

Nice property great location for circular quay and transport hub. Hotel was “ historical” with an old world charm. If you’re looking for a homogeneous modern hotel then this isn’t for you. Bathroom and room was huge compared to others locally and considerably cheaper. Front Desk staff were very good and friendly. Only disappointment was the taxi cab ordered by hotel to take us to international airport - he charged me over aus$20 more than the hotel had agreed. It would have been cheaper to get an uber. Plus he was late - sat outside hotel without informing us he was there. Not a good reflection on what was a good hotel stay.

Elegant hotel 500 yards from the Sydney Opera House overlooking Circular Quay. Across the street is the Royal Botanical Garden. The hotel is old, but very clean and comfortable. Nice breakfast included.

Lovely but different

Love staying here, this time just a bit different than whenever we stayed, the shower was in a bathtub, and no fruit on offer plus only 2 satchets of coffee in room.
