Accommodation In Atlanta
In many ways Atlanta, Georgia is the vanguard of a New South. The city literally rose from the ashes after it was burned to the ground in the American Civil War. Today, Atlanta loves its heritage but very much lives in the present. Its many restaurants, museums, and energetic nightlife make it a huge draw for visitors and residents alike—and that’s before we get into its beautiful public parks.
Ready to spend some time in “The Athens of the South”? Come on down!
Things to Do in Atlanta
Atlanta is ready to dazzle you, but she has so many tricks up her sleeve that you might want to pick your accommodation in Atlanta first and then start plotting out local points of interest to visit. If you find yourself in the downtown area, visit the state capital, the huge Georgia Aquarium and look behind the curtain of your favourite fizzy beverage at the New World of Coca-Cola. Downtown is also home to Centennial Olympic Park, where you can cool off in the Fountain of Rings, which commemorates the 1996 Olympics hosted by Atlanta.
Midtown gives you gorgeous Piedmont Park, the largest public space in Atlanta, as well as the High Museum of Art. Finally, Buckhead is where you want to be when the sun sets. The businessmen and women who work so hard during the day are ready to loosen their ties, take off the heels and boogie in this chic nightlife destination. Stay off the clock with this fun crowd!

History
Atlanta was founded in 1837 as the final destination on the Midwestern railroad. Today it remains a transport hub, with one of the nation’s biggest international airports. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was born in Atlanta in 1929. He led the U.S Civil Rights movement from the mid-1950s right up until his assassination in 1968, and is famous for his “I have a dream” speech.
Things to do
At the Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Site, visit the house that Dr. King called home until he was 12. Check out the Ebenezer Baptist Church, where Dr. King preached his sermons of non-violence, and the “I Have a Dream” World Peace Rose Garden.
You might leave with a sugar high when you spend time at the World of Coca-Cola, a museum dedicated to the famous fizzy drink. Taste unique soft drinks from around the world and many Coca-Cola varieties, check out exhibits of Coke’s milestones and see the vault where the secret formula is secured.
Georgia Aquarium has 10 million gallons of water and hundreds of thousands of animals from over 500 species. You can help train a dolphin, catch a 3D show of the ocean from an animal’s point of view, and check out beluga whales, penguins and sea otters.
For a night out in Georgia, catch a concert or a musical at the Fox Theatre. Its 4,678-seat auditorium is decorated in the style of an Arabian courtyard, complete with ceiling coloured deep blue and dotted with crystal stars.
Centennial Olympic Park in Downtown Atlanta is a 21-acre public park where you can check out an outdoor concert or wander among the “Fountain of Rings”.
Shopping and dining
Atlanta offers malls, boutiques and outlet shopping centres. When it comes time to eat, Atlanta is home to the Varsity, the world’s largest drive-in restaurant, as well as a stack of waffle houses, Southern food, American-style restaurants and delicious foreign meals.
