This is my second time staying in Occidental. The food was boring. Breakfast was left overs from dinner, no bacon, or sausages. Every day a chicken and pork. It got so boring we had to eat off the resort and we had a better meal. The staff was very friendly but constantly coming in our room for various things without waiting for us to answer. Guest services guy name Sergio was very rude and he was the last time we were there. Many servers were very pleasant except one pool server. She wanted to know why my friend was of a certain Latino race. Very rude and none of her business. Do mot get a room by the snack bar. Extremely noisy. We could hardly sleep direct next to the snack bar. If the food was better we would come back but I don’t think we will.

The staff Anthony Urbano, maria hernandez y Gualberto are the top of the top, very helpful and provide the best service! They make you feel you are in a 5 star hotel!!!! The drinks can be improved, the alcohol you can barely taste it. The beach area is not the best, they should do something about it.

I have stated at Occidental costa 4 different occasions. This last stay November the 4 th , through the 8th was not as good as before. I was put in a non handicapped room for the first 3 days . I’m a double amputee so 100 percent wheelchair bound . Actually had to leave my room and use a public restroom. This was so inconvenient for me. Also couldn’t shower for the first 3 days. Finally got a handicapped room on the evening of November 6 th

Our room was spotless, and the common areas were always well-maintained. The housekeeping team did a great job every day. it was a great stay. The hotel had a nice pool and good shows Also, there offers excellent and varied food quality. The reception staff had a bad attitude was rude and acted like they were bothered by our questions.They gave me my room late and made me stand in line again to give me the key. The phone in my room never worked during my stay, I reported it but it was never fixed.

Pro: the hotel was located adjacent to the Isla Mujeres ferry service. Cons: hotel's beach was small with very little sand; two elevators were inoperative close to our first room; buffet was OK for breakfast but had same entrees every night; speciality restaurants' maitre-d was rude and refused to seat guests without a reservation despite half the tables being empty.

I stayed 5 nights in a room with no view(facing a parking tower) and no balcony. The bathroom was small, and it did not have hot water one night. There was a day they did not clean my room or forgot to restock the minibar. The sauna was under maintenance. Dinner reservations were minimal, but fortunately, the buffet restaurant's food was enjoyable, and the drinks at the bar were good, too.
