Good vacation
Pros: Good service, great pools, liberal towel service, enjoyed our swim-up, Diamond club was worth it for a quieter vacation, butlers were helpful, white party/dj party was a blast, good restaurants but my kids enjoyed the buffet more Cons: kids water park was broken half the time, lots of beach seaweed in July (expected), room need updates, several mosquitoes and water bugs in our swim up (ceiling fan helped- few bites), kids club was bare and unappealing, no free access to Royalton Splash water park like in DR Overall- this was the cheapest swim-up I could find so that my family of 5 (it's hard to find all inclusive for families of 5) could experience one. I probably would not return again unless it was a better deal, renovations took place, or access to Royalton Splash was included.

Staff too rude and serve as the do a favor on us , we were given wrong room and have to vacate next day @11 and got our 2 queen @6 evening instead enjoying at pool and resort we have to spend time on moving the rooms and then the door tag were not activated and to go to guest service twice

Our room was dirty and we had to ask that the sheets be changed, they had what looked like blood on them. The floor was dirty and needed to be mopped. Many of our towels looked old, dirty and were full of holes. Our experience at Hunters Steak House was awful. My sister had a long black hair in her burger and everyone else’s fool was cold. The mashed potatoes were watery. We were not told that they were out of our other selections until we asked where they were. If you didn’t make reservations they day before, your dining options were limited to the buffet or wait to see if someone didn’t show for their reservation. The alcohol selection was limited to bottom shelf liquor. The pictures shown on the website are misleading and I am very disappointed in my stay. I expected to have a 5 star stay but it was more like a two star hotel.

"Diamond" experience was cubic zirconia
Beautiful resort, (even with the many renovations going on), friendly staff....but....Had a "Diamond select swimup room" which was nice, but the regular swimup room was just as good so save your money...Supposedly the "diamond select" rooms comes with butler service, but all the butler did was show us how to make our reservations ourselves, appointments and excursions for things ourselves, basically how to be self-sufficient.....for example, the room came with a bottle of basic champagne, so i asked the butler if he can get us a pitcher of pineapple juice to make mimosas (pineapple is my preference). He told me they didnt have pineapple juice in the ROOM SERVICE MENU, only orange juice so i can only order that. I explained that i know the menu didnt have it, thats why i was asking him, our butler, to get it for us. (Theyve got pineapple juice all over that resort at every bar and restaurant) he proceeds to tell me that he cant do that, only the "food dpt employees" can do that. So rather than argue about what he can/does do, i just went to the bar and got some myself...(mind you ive been tipping the staff as soon as we pulled up there because thats whats proper to do, so its not like he didnt know i was appreciative of the staff)...other than that, "diamond experience" isnt offering much else. You get extra coupons to use for spas, private dinners, etc, but nothing worthwhile....the entertainment team was good and fun. But use ya $ for other things, not the "diamond" rooms.

El hotel es muy grande y bonito, tiene muchísimas opciones de comida , el buffet súper bueno en mi opinión mucho mejor que en el almuerzo y comidas , creo que hay algunas cositas donde deben haber mejoras, el personal muy atento aunque en el área de piscinas por ejemplo no se acercan mucho a preguntar si deseas tomar algo sino que tienes que ir al bar, un lindo hotel con muchas piscinas

This was our 4th trip to Royalton Riviera and staying on the platinum side. This year we had 3 rooms for our family. Upon arrival, the staff was not flexible in allowing us to modify who stays in each room as they stated it must match the reservation (child 1 must stay with child 4, not child 2 etc)(all our children are adults). We were presented with $600 resort credits for each room ($1800 total). Webb tried each day for the first five days to receive the voucher book that explain and presents how to use the $600 vouchers and we were told they were all out and it was “audit time”. So much for the wasted $1800. In one room the TV remote did not work; we ask the butler multiple times each day for a replacement; one never came. Paint is falling off of several structures around pools etc. The check in and check out staff can use retraining in customer service and management should find a way to streamline the process. Checking in (Diamond Club) took approximately 75-80min and checkout was 45min. We love Cancun and many other great locations in Mexico - safe to say we will not return for visit #5 to Royalton Rivera Maya.

We were treated badly by staff at the hotel, starting with them lying about the check in time and also lying about not having a manager on site (in the entire hotel). The food is not of good quality, they have several restaurants and from all of them only 2 served good food. Elevators keep malfunctioning on a daily basis. The hotel was making renovations to some of the rooms and they were very close to our room. They kept making noise and because of the paint they were using, the hallway floor smelled like paint and glue. This hotel is all inclusive and on several occasions hotel staff didn’t restock it for 2 days; also we called for more towels and they ones provided were dirty, smelled bad and had hairs from other guests; the pools don't appear to get cleaned because the water was continually murky with debris, used band aids and hair floating everywhere. Disgusting pools that don't get cleaned. Other general comments include: the floor tiles in our room were loose; Wi-Fi didn't work all the time; staff is rude (some don’t even acknowledge your presence); multiple times the hotel was of napkins, drinks, food. Managers are constantly lying and non-responsive especially Antonio Martinez and Israel Rivera.

The resort is nice. Loved the entertainment, especially for children, was not very happy with the restaurants. They could do better with the food. Some of the restaurants didn’t even have the A/C working. Was disappointed with the swim up bars. Some of the pool bartenders would only provide good service if they saw you have tip in your hand

The resort was beautiful, however the check in experience was a little lacking. Our bellman did a wonderful job of explaining where things were etc but the lady that checked us in didn’t give any information at all. Not a map, didn’t advise to download the app to make things easier. I’m convinced my bed had bedbugs so beware. The linens had hair on them that wasn’t mine. I stopped having issues with bites on my legs when I asked the housekeeper (she was amazing) to change the sheets. The beach was also Very disappointing. Sooo much seaweed you couldn’t get in the water. As I said it’s a really beautiful resort but I expected more. It’s not my first time in Cancun but it was my first time at this resort and I’ve had better stays elsewhere.

I liked the service of the people on campus working, they were all so nice. I didn’t like being hung up in multiple times to address a concern after I returned to the states. They would answer put me on hold and never pick up it just hang up all together. My Jacuzzi tub in the room was cracked all the way around the perimeter of it and shower handle broke off every time I turned it on. It should be upgraded to be considered “a luxury suite”. Good and entertainment was good and a lot of varieties. Overall I enjoyed my stay because of the people I was with, food options and friendly staff.

The property was kept clean, but the bathroom door was squeaky needed some WD-40, the phone didn’t work the entire time and the television you had to play with it for about 20 to 30 minutes before it would work. Other than that it was a great experience.
