Okay we stayed here 3 times in the last 3 years . They really need a do not disturb sign because housekeeping, kept knocking on our door even after they had cleaned. Some staff were nice while others were not happy or seemed bothered by requests for drinks. Towels were very stiff and felt very hard on our hands and skin. We hope if we return they may do these few things.

The property was beautiful & overall we enjoyed our stay. The beach, pools, & drinks were the best part! The food, not so much. Unfortunately my 1st full day ended with food poisoning, and another person in our party got sick as well - we also met someone in one of the resort stores and he told us both him and his wife got sick.The food looks beautiful, but it sits out for a long time in pans on hot plates and ice plates (at every buffet in the 6 resorts on the property). Found out quickly you don't want that when it comes to seafood...None of the food was hot unless it was the soup or you did the grill section. Maids are great and on top of it, but maintenance was lacking. Our suite door was leaking hydraulic fluid and was hard to open and slammed everytime we went in and out. We told the help desk on our floor and the main floor lobby about it twice - that there was fluid running down the door (had to be careful where you held it or it would get on your hands) and no one showed up to look at it or check in on it. There's lots of shopping and activities to do but it's all pretty expensive! Wasn't a terrible experience during our week stay but I think I will pick a different resort next time.

It was our second stay at Barcelo Maya Riviera. Although we would definitely stay again, i do believe the quality has gone downhill in the past 2 years. Rooms remained very clean but we did have an issue with a cockroach at our door. Food was subpar and usually lukewarm at buffet. A la carte restsurants were good. Staff.worked very hard and were kind, was wondeeful to get to know them.overall we would definitely return but were bummed to see such changes in a short period of time.

Rooms pools and beach are excellent. A la carte restaurants were very good, however they could do better with the buffet I stayed at the Barcelo Palace several times and the buffet had better options there.

We loved this resort! Beautiful beach and lots to do. Access to all other Barcelo Maya Resorts. Very good dining options, you just have to make a reservation for them once you get there. Lots of excursion opportunities. Hotel was very clean with Jacuzzi on balcony which was very nice to use during rainy days. Pool was very nice.

The propriety is beautiful, food is good, staff very friendly and nice. Didn’t like when the hotel have the conference meetings, during the night 2,3 am was very loud, The beach was kept very clean. Thank you.

We had an incredible stay at this hotel. The service was outstanding, especially from the buffet and housekeeping teams. The staff at the buffet were always attentive, friendly, and made sure everything was perfect at every meal. Housekeeping did an excellent job keeping the room spotless and well-stocked, going above and beyond to ensure comfort. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for top-notch service and hospitality.

We stayed at the AO Barcelo Maya Riveria. We didn’t realize in order to get to other areas like the shopping plaza, discoteca, etc you have to take a bus to get there and back. The property is huge and not walkable. That being said there were great dinner options and overall we were happy with our stay.
