AN EDWARDIAN VILLA IN THE HEART OF THE SMALL MARKET TOWN OF COWBRIDGE

A little holiday gem! 81 Eastgate is a classic Edwardian villa situated in the heart of the small market town of Cowbridge in South Wales and is located on the main and only shopping street with a big choice of restaurants, wine bars, pubs and bistros - many within a hundred yards. The villa is decorated and comfortably furnished in the Art Nouveau style and has a lovely peaceful garden to the rear.
On the ground floor there is a principal front reception room with stunning fireplace, a dining room, a conservatory (garden room) and kitchen and utility room
On the first floor there are two double bedrooms and also a single bedroom furnished with bunk beds, plus a principal bathroom with bath and an ensuite bathroom/dressing room with shower
On the 2nd floor there is a play room with pool table
The house is fully equiped to a high standard with wi-fi and television
The double doors from the garden room lead out to the mature and private gardens. Features include flag stoned patio with outside furniture, barbeque, al fresco 'Italianate' dining table with benches, outdoor table tennis and a shaded arbour for quiet relaxation.
There is parking for a car at the rear of the garden
Cowbridge is very conveniently located near the A48 main road, so you're only a quick car journey away from the centre of Cardiff, the beautiful Vale of Glamorgan coast line or well placed to travel further west to visit Swansea or the Gower Peninsular. Our favourite beaches include Southerndown, Ogmore by sea, Merthyr Mawr (with their famous sand dunes) and Porthcawl. There are three golf courses close to Cowbridge
A trip to Duffryn Gardens is a must! - a National Trust House with extensive and very famous formal gardens. Cowbridge physic garden is a delight, just inside the old town walls
The City of Cardiff, being only 20 minutes away, holds innumerable attractions; shopping centres, dozens of restaurants, theatres, cinemas, exhibitions, stadiums, Cardiff Castle, The Millennium Concert and Opera house, Marinas and Cardiff Bay ... the list goes on!

Beautiful house, lovely location.
Beautiful house and lovely setting in the old town of Cowbridge. Most of the house was very clean - though the skirting boards in most rooms were a bit dirty. We also had a drainage problem while we were there but it was successfully dealt with very promptly. We really enjoyed our stay there and the accommodation and equipment was excellent.

Great stay!
This is a lovely little property! The town where it is located has plenty of shops & a good mix of different cuisines at the local restaurants. There is even a castle ruin you can visit less than a mile walk from the property. Check in & check out was quick and easy. The property manager was very prompt in answering any questions we had via the VRBO messaging system & the property owners direct telephone number was provided for any after-hours issues that might arise (we didn't have any!) We rented a car & took day trips from the property. We checked out the Nash Point Lighthouses & a portion of the Wales Coast path. We also visited a variety of Cadw properties. Check them out online at Cadw.gov.wales to plan your visit. Cadw offers an Explorer Pass which is a great value if castle bagging is on your to-do list. You can get to the Breacon Beacons National Park in about an hour from here. Check out the Breacon Mountain Railway for a leisurely day out or look into climbing Pen Y Fan and the neighboring peaks if you're into hill walking. We spent 10 full days here & it wasn't enough time to do all the things in the area that we were aware of & I am sure there are tons more to do that we don't know about. 10 out of 10! Would recommend!!!

Overall impression
When we arrived the property was not ready for us. The beds were not made and there was a bag of rubbish in the kitchen. In addition the garden and parking area was overgrown. All of this was sorted after a phone call to the owner who arranged for a cleaner the same evening and a gardener two days later. In addition prior to the stay I followed a link see the trip detail and kept getting messages that I had no trips planned. When I put up a question about this I got a message from the owner that everything was Ok for our arrival. Not the case (see above) It seems to me that there was a lack of communication about getting the property ready. One final point is some of the paving in the garden needs sorting as they are trip hazards.

Accommodation in Cowbridge Wales
We enjoyed every aspect of this property apart from one issue, which were uncomfortable mattresses in the two main bedrooms, not to be recommended for anyone with back problems. Please provide more information regarding rubbish disposal.

Great location
Great location on the High Street to be able to walk to all the little independent shops, cafes, Waitrose supermarket and Tesco express and the lovely Physic Gardens all less than 20 minutes walk. Also great for driving to see Caerphilly Castle, Mumbles lighthouse, Penarth Pier all around half an hour away. Parking was very easy - unpacked using the space at the front of the house then moved the car round the back to the private space off road. Property was very clean, bedding lovely and fresh, lots of space and had all you needed in the kitchen including a dishwasher! Sunroom was our favourite place to chill. We enjoyed having the pool table on the top floor and the table tennis table in the garden - and Alexa was a fun bonus. Although the fittings and furniture are a bit worn it was only one factor in what was a great holiday.

Excellent Location and House
The accommodation is spacious, comfortable and well equipped; everything you need, particularly for a long stay. Bed linen and towels are changed every week and any cleaning done as required. The house was in the main street in Cowbridge within easy walking distance of shops, major supermarket, parks and walks; also plenty cafes, pubs and restaurants. A Lovely Place to Be!
My family rented this home for a full month, as we were in transit from one home to a new place in Wales. We could not have found a more welcoming and pleasant place. The home is well maintained with a mix of modern and classic decor, and a fantastic conservatory and garden. Plus, it is right on the Main Street in Cowbridge, just a short walk from restaurants, shops and historic sites. The owners/caretakers are quite friendly but happy to just let you to yourself. We loved our time in Cowbridge thanks to this home.

Second time at the villa
We were last at the villa 2 years ago. Cowbridge is just perfect for visiting my father in Porthcawl. Since our last visit the garden has had some work on it. The garden is just perfect for the 2 dogs. We spoke with Michael, owner and Justin about two issues. These were leaking conservatory roof, bucket collected the water. The was also an issue with the outside waste drain from the bathroom which Justin said he would be rodding when we left. So if all repairs done it will be absolutely good house to stay in and enjoy the area.

Very good position in the town
Lovely house, very good position in the middle of the town with easy access to both shops, pubs, restaurants and takeaways. . This house worked very well for us. Two bathrooms and a toilet downstairs three bedrooms, we had bubble family visit as well at the weekend, with two children and it worked well for us. It allowed the whole family to meet after so long. Lovely garden, like a secret garden maybe not everyone's choice but I loved it. Totally safe for our dog. We had a problem with a leaking drain into the garden but the owner was very kind and arranged for repair to be carried out after our departure. We have relatives who live in a village nearby, so we were able to see them in their garden as we would have been too many indoors.

Warm and spacious house in a great location
This is a really well equipped house with plenty of space inside and out and spotlessly clean. Although it's located right on the main street it wasn't noisy and having all the amenities of a quaint market town on your doorstep was a huge bonus. There's lovely countryside to explore nearby and a frequent express bus service into the centre of Cardiff if you don't feel like driving. Overall a great base for exploring the Vale of Glamorgan.

Spacious but homely gem
We really loved this place - was initially concerned it would be a bit too large for a small group of us (it was booked due to the two bathrooms so that we could socially-distance within the property), but even so with the decor it is somehow very homely and comfortable! We didn't make the most of all the things like the pool table and ping pong table, as we were lucky with fantastic weather for the week, but it was a great location for the shops and takeaways, and to drive down to the coast (Dunraven Bay and also Merthyr Mawr sand dunes were awesome!) - and although a longer drive, you can access the Brecon Beacons also. All in all we had no issues and definitely hope to stay here again.

Family and dog friendly property with everything we needed within walking distance, nice pubs and restaurants and walks with the dog. We had our 2 teenage boys with us who especially enjoyed the snooker table in the converted loft area. Forage farm shop has a super cafe and Ogmore-by-Sea by Sea is also worth a visit. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and look forward to visiting again as we couldn’t fit everything into one week.

Lovely peaceful stay
Lovely house and garden in a fabulous little town that has everything you could need, even in covid 19 times. Twin beds rather than the bunks would have been good and main bedroom is crying out for a king sized bed - but still was excellent. Both bathrooms were excellent and downstairs loo and sun room were great.

Quirky, lovely garden, great location.
At first, the property was extremely cold and it was around two days before it was reasonably comfortable, although this does not apply to the kitchen which had no heating. Why was the heating not activated before we arrived? The back patio doors are not secure even when locked. Apart from the above points, which are not trivial, we enjoyed our stay. Thank you.
