I had to check out of this property after one hour and go to another hotel. It was not that clean like on the pictures, the birds nest right in the sealing and all best and small stuff was dropped on the bed canopy and AC working only night time. And I didn't see any notes about it on Expedia. I want refund for this hotel, since I didn't stay there even one night, but management refused to pay back. Very bad experience.

This place is very convenient if u need to be in the center of tulum the people are extremely friendly and helpful with this place you get what u pay for but if you are into eco hotel this is great the biggest thing is they only let you wrong the AC from 8pm to 6am and tulum tap water is salty so you are always showering with salty water bad for skin and hair

Origen was the perfect place for my solo stay. Located in the jungle, across the street from the beach and adjacent to the Mayan Clay Spa. It was perfectly simple and beautiful. The music from the spa played gently outside throughout the day. I felt like I had just had a spa experience yet I didn’t have to get up to go anywhere! It was 4 nights of complete relaxation for me before moving into town for four nights. Camilla and staff made it feel like a home away from home.

Super nice staff! That probably makes up for all the other lackings of this place. The place does not look like the pictures much. The AC runs only from 8pm-6am and that too is not super cooling. There's no proper security at the location, just a man who sits at the desk at night. The place had a bit of a rotten smell not sure where it was coming from, it got worse when you turned the vent on in the bathroom. If you're a picky person about your hotel then this is NOT the place for you. There are no amenities at all, the beach club they recommend is not free. It's basically a small little wooden hut in the jungle with super nice staff.

It’s a beautiful and different place to stay but the fact that the AC works only 8pm-6am is brutal is 90 plus degrees and after a day at the beach you want to be able to cool off in your room. But can’t because is as hot in the room during the day.

Here’s the good stuff...Camila at the front desk during the day was great. She provided awesome recommendations (I speak fluent Spanish). The rest of the staff were ehhh. I told them I didn’t want them to enter my room for housekeeping service and they went in anyways. It would have been nice if renting bikes didn’t cost $250 pesos a day. If you stay here during the hot humid June as I did....be ready for the electricity to go out every night, salt water in your shower and sink (pretty gross to brush teeth), jungle bugs, towels that smell like seafood and habanero salsa, no air conditioning during the day, and what my girlfriend hated the most ...Terrible dim lighting making it hard to put on make up. P.S. the cat “salchicha” is very cute and was nice to have around.

I’ve stayed here twice and each experience was fantastic! Very clean and the best location on Tulum hotel strip! The only thing that could make it better was to have small refrigerators in the rooms!! 🙏 I highly recommend! Camille is the best!! She’s always at the front desk with a smile!!

Very cool little spot
First the good: the staff is so kind. The hotel is clean. The jungle vibe is cool and it is a quiet property within walking distance to all major restaurants, beach and bars. The bad: the AC only operates from 8p-6a. Keep in mind that Tulum is HOT so when you come back to your room during the day it is really uncomfortable. After a day or so this becomes an issue. Your clothes are sweaty. Even after a show the layer of sweat returns. This is something to keep in mind especially if you’re traveling with someone and sharing the small room. Just be aware.

We were going for a more rustic, treehouse, beachy feel so The property was perfect for us. There aren’t any fancy extras so if that’s what you’re looking for this isn’t the hotel. The staff was great and everything was clean :)

You get what you pay for
The price is super affordable for the area on Tulum Beach. We stayed on a bottom level room that felt like a tree house. A 2nd level room woulda been way cooler if the option was there. Very simple clean room. To get to the beach you have to cross the street then walk down an alley through a bar/restaurant. You were close but it didn't feel like you were actually on the beach.
