Check in was difficult. I walk with a cane so I want to walk to places as efficiently as possible.I drove around the property to find the front desk to check in. I finally had to stop in at the convenience store for directions to the front desk. The front desk clerk who checked me in seemed preoccupied with whatever she was doing that it seemed like I was bothering her. I didn't even know what the plastic cards to gamble with were. Nice view of lake Topaz. I'll go somewhere else next time.

Although a bit dated and old looking rooms, they were very clean and all provided amenities worked well. Kind of like the dated look as it gives a retro vibe to the place. Nice restaurant attached to property. Great staff. Was a great find on our road trip.

We stayed at this property twice on our roadtrip. The first time our room was very comfortable. The second time the room had some issues. The thermostat didn’t work so they left a space heater in the room. It didn’t work very well. Also, the ceiling had a leak. Fortunately, the leak was nowhere near the bed.

Room clean & appeared nice, but items need to be repaired - toilet lever broken (fixed by client w/ dental floss), bathroom fan non-operational, bath faucet loose & leaked on counter, thermostat falling off wall & didn't operate correctly, bldg ice machine non-operational (got ice from gas station next door) Booked 2 night stay, 2nd day flagged door "do not disturb", returned after day trip, room serviced. Everything left is room disposed of by housekeeping - waterproof dirty close bag w/ dirty clothes, post cards, phone charger, food & drink in fridge - GONE.

Cosy Lake location
This property just off the main H395 (and 1hr south of South Tahoe Lake), is made up of 3 large buildings. One contains reception, restaurant, the casino and some ground floor rooms. Note you need to walk through the casino to checkin. The other buildings (separated by an onsite Chevron) are just accommodation. Plenty of green space offered. The rooms are surprisingly quiet and a little worn but keep you cosy. Self parking is free. All rooms face Topaz Lake which is wonderful. Breakfast is not included but a $3 pp discount voucher is given to each guest. The food and service was great, with a fantastic view of the lake. Dog friendly.

This was my second stay at the Topaz Lodge, the last being a couple of years ago. The staff was as friendly and helpful as the last time. Room was convenient and clean and the food at the cafe is terrific. The perfect location for a short getaway or stop on a longer journey.
