I cannot believe the amount of positive reviews of this place. To start, the parking is a nightmare. $55 per night for valet parking, total rip, and there is always a massive wait to get your car. We almost got hit twice in the concierge area, it is total chaos. The lifts are always full, so it takes ages to get up or down. The pool is 1m deep, and any more than 5 people in the pool and there is no space to move. The pictures make it look much bigger than it is! The pool opening hours are also confused amongst staff- reception say the pool is open until 7, and when we arrived at 6, the extremely rude bar staff told us to get out as it closed at 6. Do not recommend, absolutely horrible experience.

The Rydges at Southbank is always a reliable and very pleasant hotel. The gingerbread Christmas tree in the foyer was spectacular and smelt delicious. The room was huge with the unexpected bonus of a large balcony. The pool area was very appealing, as always, and the location is fantastic given its short distance to restaurants and the excitement of Southbank. Highly recommended.

Very pleasant stay. Rooms were clean and there was a Wonderful view of the city… especially at night. Close walking distance to city and venues around the city. Lots of places to eat nearby.

Called ahead of time to arrange parking etc for activities and was not informed of valet. $55 for a valet that we stood around for 40minutes waiting for. They drove my car 15meteres and then I had to go through the time wasting and unorganised valet process to go back to the car so we could change our child as the room was not ready. Forced valet should be illegal.

Lovely room but dining options way below expectations. I am a ceoliac and unable to consume glutin yet there were no glutin-free options on your menus. Another point is (and this is a delicate matter) but your staff are almost exclusively foreigners whose ability to speak English is very limited. We found this most irritating.
