New guest quarters on the ocean provides the best VACATION location available. Be one of the first to stay in this beautifully renovated and nautically decorated 2 story. Lots of room for two (or three) and breathtaking views. Steps from the ocean and three sites from Friendship Maine Town Landing. The town landing offers a paved boat launch that many of our guests use to launch their boats. The launch is also a favorite spot to swim with easy access to the ocean. Guests often bring their own boats, kayaks, bikes, or hiking equipment to explore Muscongus Bay area. We do make exceptions for an additional guest above the usual two (children love this area) with an increase of rates. Sea life is all around you: fish, birds, and porpoises. Please let us know how we can best prepare for your arrival, so your visit meets all of your expectation. The new guest house is awesome for enjoying ocean activities or just relaxing on the outside deck while watching the constantly changing sunsets over the water. Located between Rockland and Boothbay our guest retreat offers numerous local weekly festivities to explore. Come experience the best Maine has to offer.

Great stay but recommend updating listing details
Sharon and Gil were so nice, hospitable, and accommodating and I ultimately had a decent stay. I want to be sure to let other visitors know there are some things that may help align expectations, as a past guest, so you don’t get disappointed. This rental is not “brand new” anymore, and I think this listing is overdue for a revamp/ update. The photos don’t exactly match up with the space at this time, and the “added” photos make it confusing, so I was a little backwards on expectations. The main bedroom is downstairs and it’s cramped tight with a queen, and there was not a king bed as listed. There was a twin upstairs in the loft - no king. I was hoping for actual “beachfront” (as described) directly on the water - the photos kind of make it seem like the deck is directly on the ocean (the vantage from the photos is not from the deck of this listing) but you are actually a full 50+ feet or so from the water; the length of the side yard of the owner’s house this sits behind. It’s pretty boulder/rocky and I wouldn’t describe as a “beach”, not really safe for walking along. This listing currently indicates there is a fire pit which I saw no evidence of, I was hoping it would be a feature as I really love to have campfires and was looking forward to that privately on the water so this was also a disappointment. The hosts were very kind and gracious so it pains me to be critical, but I don’t think I’d have booked this had I been more clear on expectations based on the listing.

Totally loved it!
We were looking for kayak-friendly owners and property, and scored on both! Sweet spot in a protected cove, access to other coves, islands and river nearby, and open ocean 3 miles south. Easy launching from their dock and a dedicated float that allows easy in and out. Shannon and Gil are great hosts; they arranged lobster from son’s catch one day and cooked it for us! Great house with a porch, well-appointed kitchen cozy bedroom and a loft with a view. Plus several preserves for hiking and local food nearby. We’ll be back!

Great hosts, awesome view and good location
Gil and Sharon were great. They were very accommodating and accessible. Gil,a fifth generation lobsterman can fill you in on all that. He also builds lobster boats. Friendship is convenient to places in midcoast Maine such as Rockland, Rockport and Camden.

Magical escape to Maine
Sharon and Gil are incredible hosts, in line with the beautiful home that they have shared. The views from the guest house are sensational. We couldn’t think of a better way to relax and unwind on a week long vacation. This place is perfect.

Friendly stay in Friendship, Maine
Sharon and Gil are "finest kind," the type of hospitable folks you would expect to find in the great state of Maine. They built this unit themselves so there is a lot of love, care and quality that went into it. All the amenities you could want. You have a beautiful view of the water and sea-going birds, in a very quiet location, far from any tourist traffic but still well situated for heading out to some of the prime attractions along the Maine coast. There are several nature preserves close by for bird-watching, hiking or jogging. A great value...you'll be happy and comfortable here.

What an amazing time we had in Maine! The location of their beautiful place was perfect, cozy and oh so peaceful and quiet! The house had everything we needed and Gil & Sharon were quick to respond with any questions/needs we had! They are amazing! The views from the deck are beautiful! The bed was comfortable and there wasn't a thing we wished we'd had while we were there! Thank you for sharing your little piece of paradise with us! We loved every minute of our trip and it will go down as one of the best vacations we've ever taken!

Gil & Sharon Simmons are awesome hosts. They are good communicators and have been highly accommodating. Gave us a bunch of privacy. Gil and the generations after him are lobster fisherpeople. I strongly recommend guests use Jameson Point Lobster, very good price and they will steam them for you to take home or whatever. Great place! Very peaceful location. Great to see the tide action. Pretty boats in a little harbor! Just right for 2 adults - great TV - the wifi internet was pretty weak and sporadic. Generally good cell coverage in the area. Hate to say it as I love this hidden gem - want it just for me. Absolutely fantastic.

Idyllic spot
This property was perfect- clean, recently built, and with a beautiful view from the deck and loft room. The hosts could not have been better. They shared so much information about local attractions and the best places to eat. I'd say more, but then everybody would want to stay there and we won't be able to visit again next time!

Anniversary Trip to Maine
OMG! There aren't enough words to express our appreciation to the hosts - Sharon & Gil - for making our 20 year anniversary trip very memorable. The cabin was perfect and very comfy. We used the deck every day for our morning coffee and evening happy hour with a view of the bay. Exactly what we were expecting...I wanted to be on the water!! The cabin was perfectly equipped for all of our needs and close to conveniences - grocery, restaurants, etc. I hope after you read our review, you will book this cabin. You won't regret it! We're already planning our next trip back to Maine!!

Wonderful house, inside and outside
The guest house was comfortable and clean, with a great view of the ocean from the loft and the deck. Friendship is an easy drive to the ferry to Monhegan Island, lighthouses, lobster restaurants. It was a treat to get to know the hosts, Gil and Sharon, who were very helpful, kind and responsive.

Mid August Vacation.
Sharon And Gil were phenomenal host. The communication Sharron provided was prompt at every point. Gil was patient with me, taking time out of his day to talk about the history of Friendship and his Lobstering career. The accuracy of the listing was spot on. The house was modern and clean. One can see the beauty of the property from pictures, however I was thrilled to see the beauty in real life. The smell of the sea goes well with fresh coffee. Checking in and out was streamlined and efficient. Everyone we met in Friendship was helpful and willing to chat with us. The whole region is gorgeous. We found many places to visit with a short drive. And Sharron has a nifty folders full of brochures and maps, highlighting areas of interest. We were honored to stay with Sharron and Gil. This location was absolutely perfect for us to be able to launch our kayak and explore the area. Sharon and Gil had provided everything we needed, gave us a great overview of the area describing places of interest, and Sharon even went with us on a sunset kayak to make sure we know how to get to a special place the next day. Fabulous hosts and versatile accommodation
The property has a lovely little deck overlooking the cove where we spent a lot of time. The downstairs bedroom is small but we kept all our belongings in the upstairs room which is quite big. TV was great, WiFi signal was intermittent. Overall the hosts were willing to address any short comings. However, there are no laundry facilities. There is a great coin operated laundry in Damariscotta which also does service washes. The kitchen was fine but if you like to cook the utensils are basic. We loved our time there. Friendship is a beautiful spot with a lovely community of full time residents.

What a terrific place to spend two weeks with my 83 year old mother on the coast of Maine. Restful with a beautiful view! Close to many attractions and activities in the area. Gil and Sharon are super hosts and worked hard to make our time special. Sweet memories made here!

Lovely and peaceful stay
This cottage was perfect for us. We used the sleeping loft in order to have views and early morning sunlight. The kitchen was perfect for cooking and everything was provided. Gil and Sharon were extremely nice and helpful. This is a wonderful getaway from urban stress!
