Accommodation In Houston

Looking for Houston hotels? No problem! It’s America’s fourth largest city and the biggest in Texas (where EVERYTHING is bigger, so they say), so it should come as no surprise that Houston has a huge number of activities. There’s the Space Center and museums, a thriving theatre district, and excellent shopping and food. Houston even has the world’s largest rodeo if you want some boot-scootin’ action. Book your Houston hotel with us to see southern hospitality meet space-age technology.

History

In 1962, NASA’s spacecraft centre moved to Houston. In 1969, Mission Control in Houston gave the three astronauts of the Apollo 11 mission the all-clear to land, and Neil Armstrong became the first person to walk on the moon. ‘Houston” was the first word he spoke after setting foot on the lunar surface.

Things to do

You may not be able to go to the moon yourself, but you can make some pretty exciting discoveries at the Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center. Visit NASA’s historic Mission Control room, touch a moon rock millions of years old at the Starship Gallery and experience the thrill of taking off in a rocket in the Blast-Off Theater.

Houston has museums to suit all kinds of interests, not just space exploration! In fact, the Houston Museum District has 20 museums within a 1.5 mile radius: There’s the Museum of Natural Science, the Museum of Fine Arts and the Children’s Museum... and that’s just for starters. Unwind at the Houston Zoo or Downtown Aquarium if you’re an animal lover.

Houston’s theatre district has four main venues and a whole host of performing arts companies, making it the perfect place for a night of culture.

And if you’re craving a genuine Southern experience, Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo is the world’s largest livestock event. Every March, for almost three weeks, NRG Stadium fills with livestock shows, live music and – of course – rodeo events.

Shopping and dining

Take your pick from more than 400 shops and restaurants at the Galleria, a 2.4 million square foot mall complete with an ice-skating rink. Houston also has boutique shops and fresh food markets. And if food is your passion, Houston has about 10,000 restaurants. You’ll find award-winning dineries and local favourites throughout the city, plus heaps of international restaurants and cafes on Montrose Street.
