This is a “no frills” hotel with small but comfortable rooms (similar to a cruise ship). One downside is there is no kettle, tea or coffee. The location is great and the staff were pleasant.

Very centrally located -located close to Chinatown, theatre district, Piccadilly Circus and Trafalgar Square. You are guaranteed access to all places of food, shopping and entertainment. Hotel is also very close to public transportation- bus and subway. WiFi isn’t strong and it should be since there is no TV in the room. Overall we loved where the place was at and would come back if we want to stay in the same area. Check-in was also very easy.

Our room at Assembly was beautifully decorated. Our only complaints were the size of the room and the lack of storage space for clothing. The room was absolutely tiny. The bed was pushed into the corner of the room, so I had to enter the bed from the foot of the bed. Because there wasn’t any type of dresser, what little floor space that existed in the room got consumed by our open suitcases. If you can put up with those small inconveniences, the hotel is great. We had a sweeping view of London all the way from St. Paul’s Cathedral past the London Eye. (We were on the 7th Floor.) Also, the location of the hotel is fantastic. It is really close to the London Underground/Piccadilly Line which connects directly to Heathrow Airport. There are also so many great places to eat and shop, not to mention all of the theaters, all within a short walk.

The good: The location of the hotel is central and convenient. It is walking distance away from Trafalgar Square, Parliament, Westminster Abbey, Soho, Chinatown, etc. I checked in online so once I got to the hotel the check in was less than a minute. Our room was very clean, including bedding and towels. It was quiet at night despite a busy street outside. The bed was comfortable to sleep in as well. The shower was pretty spacious. The bad: It is a very budget hotel even though the rooms are $300 per night. There is no phone in the room to call downstairs if you need something. Someone may ask why would I need a phone in a hotel room. I’ll tell you why. Because you might decide to take a shower in the evening just to discover that there is no water. Then you have to get dressed , go downstairs, wait for staff for about 10 minutes to come to the desk and deal with the issue. But at least they dealt with it right away. The room has no safe, no TV, the shower doesn’t have a simple little shelf to put your shampoo / soap on. Only one USB port in the room was working to charge any of the devices. And all outlets are UK specific so if you didn’t know to bring an adapter you were out of luck. When we came into the room it was freezing in there. The AC was set to 16 degrees without an option to go any higher. I had to go downstairs and ask the staff to allow us to turn the heat on in the room (which they did without an issue). This was one of the smallest rooms I’ve ever stayed in. The bathroom facility is good and has enough space but the sleeping area is very small and there is little to no room for any of your luggage. The hotel smelled very strongly of cologne or aftershave every time you enter the building so I would not recommend staying here if you have scent sensitivity. The hotel is in a great central location so if you are just looking for a good location and a place to rest your head for the night and aren’t worried about anything else then it is a good spot.
