This is a great little spot. I appreciated the vintage feel of the hotel. I was worried when I read other reviews but was pleasantly surprised. If you’re expecting a modern hotel then you may disappointed. Our rooms were mostly updated to an acceptable level. The beds were a bit saggy. Nothing was perfect but it was clean and the pool area was fantastic. The location is also amazing. We walked one block to the beach and felt safe walking the main street at night as well. I would definitely go back.

The photos and description in Expedia were many times better than the actual place. From the moment we arrived we had issues with the room: it was way smaller than how it looked, the faucet of the shower was broken, the water was not really hot, the phone did not work and the WiFi was so weak their own streaming would not work and they were not able to fix it. Later on when we wanted to go to the beach, we asked for the golf cart (as advertised) to take us there and they told us it was not working and that they may have it fixed in one week. This was followed by an employee trying to explain to us that we should be able to walk to the beach (with my 78 year old mother) and that it was not a big deal that the golf cart was not working. He did not even try to apologize for offering a service in the website which was not really available. Once at the beach we were told the hotel offered lounge chairs, which it did however, you had to pay for the umbrella and they had ran out of towels. When we went back to the hotel and to the pool area, they also did not have towels and the bar/restaurant by the pool did not offer any food. The whole hotel was Instagram ready but very superficial and everything seemed to be breaking.

Truly a terrible experience, worst hotel I have stayed dirty no staff no room service no house keeping inside room was filthy no one answers phone when calling “front desk” there not even a front desk in the facility you have to do check in on another hotel there breakfast vouchers did not work they told me I had to pay. Truly awfull

South Beach Hotel is in sore need of refurbishment, maybe even a teardown and rebuild. The air vents had mold, the 2nd floor hallway creaks and feels unstable, like they carpeted over old wood, and several of the windows were screwed shut (fire code violation?). The carpet in the room was stained, and there was obvious water damage next to the shower door in the bathroom wainscoting and to one of the room's window frames. The paint work was pretty shoddy, too. The furniture is worn and definitely needs replacing. The exterior has been redone since the last photos from 2020 on Google Maps and listed in Expedia. However, the new stone/tile work and artificial turf leaves something to be desired. They expanded the outdoor seating at the expense of the previously beautiful landscaping. In addition, the sheets weren't changed while I was staying there. On a positive note, the room has fully functional lighting, A/C (cooling only), and a working TV and mini fridge, and the nights were quiet. Check-in/check-out at the Boulan South Beach Hotel next door was quick and easy, and the rooftop pool and hot tub at the Boulan (a connected property to which South Beach Hotel has access) were sweet! All in all, I've got mixed feelings about my stay. 3/5 stars.

Bad Hotel Choice
The front door of the hotel was open with no security. The room had a smell, and the staff was not friendly at all. The mattress of the bed was sinking in the middle, and the widows are very dirty. This hotel was a very bad experience.

The location is unbeatable, right by the ocean and within walking distance of all the nightlife and restaurants. The staff was incredibly friendly and made me feel at home. My room was stylish and spacious. Everything was spotless, and I loved every minute of my stay!

This hotel is a South Beach treasure. The staff went above and beyond to make sure my stay was exceptional. The room had a sleek design, a comfortable bed, and was meticulously clean. The rooftop pool is also a must-visit. The location is fantastic, with the beach and trendy spots just a short walk away.
