We loved staying here at the Catalonia Resort in Riviera Maya. We paid a little extra for the newly renovated rooms and they were great. Also we got extra privileges to use special areas of the beach and an extra pool. One of the best things that was included with the nicer room upgrade was getting to go to the privileged restaurant called Bloved. It has amazing food and you don’t need a reservation for this restaurant. So there were days we couldn’t get a reservation for one of the other restaurants, but we didn’t mind because we would go to Bloved and get the best food every time. Great hotel, good food, wonderful time with the family. So many things to do and you don’t have to pay any extra for them. Just give tips and you will always be taken care of. They deserve the tips! They work very hard!!

I just want to worn everyone that the restaurant options listed on the website are just a misunderstanding advertisement. Restaurants are there but you are unable to get reservations and everyday there is a line of people complaining about this. For a week of stay there we were able to get only one reservation, after multiple complaints. The food at the buffet is not grate but you don’t have any other options. She’s and entertainment are not very good as well. Staff is nice, except guest services. The place is clean and the drinks were ok. Overall I would not recommend it as an all inclusive option, only as a regular hotel where you don’t plan to spend too much time.

Staff were nice. Area around the hotel is safe. Restaurants are nice, delicious food, and not expensive. Only one buffet restaurant actually available and the menu is the same every day. In order to make a reservation for any other restaurant, you must wake up early in the morning to make reservations. The app is open at 8am and out of 7 days not one reservation we were able to make. Fishing tours are a big scam as well. We booked a boat for 6 people (6 hours), and the one we got was for 3 2 captains. Had to return after 1.5 hours because it was unsafe to continue. Paid $650, no refund because it was our decision not to continue the tour. Construction was ongoing day-night; bars opening at 11am; no service around pool area or beach. Beach towels were old, worn out. Beach towel’s area closed down between 1-2pm every day. Would not recommend this resort.

Lots of construction didnt get to use swim up pool bars. Construction at 8am right out our patio doors. Couldn't book reservations for restaurants as it was supposably by 801 am. Staff wouldnt greet you. 1 Bartender through the whole place was friendly. Front desk was unhelpful to any of requests for knowledge. Bars closed by 10pm and didnt open till 11 am. Will not go back or recommend

Romantic vacation away from winter.
We were on the priviledged romance package and really enjoyed the resort… staff are amazing, the privileged pool and beach were wonderful. Our room was spacious and cleaned daily. We had a balcony off the bedroom and then a furnished patio looking out over the main pool area with ocean views. The minor negatives are that the a la carte reservation system isn’t the greatest and they will up within minutes of being available at 8am. And our fridge didn’t work properly causing beverages to be warm. But overall we had a wonderful trip and will be back again.

Disappointing Stay at Catalonia Riviera Maya Resort & Spa We were really looking forward to our family vacation at Catalonia Riviera Maya, but sadly, it did not meet our expectations. Upon arrival, we were excited to check out the amenities, but quickly realized that many of the resort’s features were either closed or unavailable or just didn’t have. The spa was only open on the first day of our stay, and after that, it was inaccessible. The gym was closed, and to make matters worse, the main pools were also shut down. It felt like a lot of the resort was in maintenance mode or just not operating as advertised. Had to listen to drilling and hammering during my stay , the lobby entrance ceiling was being fix so the path ways were blocked off had long walk to lobby To top it off, only two restaurants were open daily, limiting our dining options significantly. The food quality was mediocre at best, and we expected more variety given the price we paid. The staff was not particularly welcoming or friendly, and we didn’t feel the hospitality you would expect from a resort of this caliber. There were very few activities available during our stay, which was a huge letdown for our family. We paid a premium for this vacation, but felt like we didn’t get value for the money. For the price, we expected much better facilities, better service, and more things to do. Overall, we were very disappointed with our experience at Catalonia Riviera Maya, and we definitely won’t be returning.

We paid for a privileged room with access to all the restaurants but their website which is required to book a reservation constantly crashes. This resulted in many frustrated mornings not being able to reserve a table. There were often many people at the front desk complaining about the same issue. Overall, the staff were good, Manuel at the buffet was definitely the best and he works hard for the guests! The resort is overpriced for what it is, we won't return there.

Catalonia Riviera Maya Resort was excellent overall. The property was very clean and every staff member was very friendly and accommodating. One of the main pools and gym was closed which wasn’t disclosed at check in. Food at buffets was good, but the actual few restaurants they have are better, however it was very hard to get a reservation due to the fact that the link opened up at 8am, and everyone tries to go on at the same time and book a slot, the spots are very limited and almost impossible to get. Drinks were good, not watered down and bartenders very friendly and accommodating. Plenty of daytime pool activities. Beaches were nice but small. The room was nice and clean, and the staff did a great job of keeping everything stocked and ready for us. Bed was comfortable and towels were provided as well, at our service.
