Lovely character hotel
Lovely character hotel with interesting history. Very comfortable and clean. All staff were very friendly and attentive. Ricardo especially made us feel welcome & goes above & beyond to ensure guests have all they need. Breakfast is good, and food in restaurant also good quality & ample portions. Bus into York is easy with a stop right outside. Would recommend this hotel.

I loved the cosy traditional decor of my room and the hotel, its beautiful garden, the facilities available in my room and a comfortable bed. Having access to a secure car park was a great addition. My only gripe was that I had to re-make the bed before going to sleep as the sheet didn't cover the whole mattress. I subsequently found a stain on the mattress protector... This is more to do with the chamber staff.

Unfortunately I had a bad experience at this hotel and encountered a very rude lady who claimed to be the owner. She made a big issue of my bag being on the floor next to the table that I was dining at. Horrible impression and I left immediately, did not complete my stay and I will not stay there again.

Property is lovely, very Agatha Christy vibes. Beds amazing, we had a great nights sleep. Lovey breakfast . Room was a bit musty smelling and a few cobwebs and dirty skirting boards. It wouldn’t stop us staying there again.Staff were very friendly and welcoming.
