Staff rude, rooms gone downhill don't bother
So I arrived and the hotel room I was given was absolutely filthy. It clearly hadn't been touched as you could see by the photos, empty bottles everywhere, dirty towels, bed clearly slept in, so I went straight to reception and was given a different room. The bed was uncomfortable and the shower also did not work as the temperature gauge was not working and was either boiling hot or freezing cold. When I reported this to reception I got told verbatim "are you sure that isn't a YOU problem", and got asked if I knew how to work a shower when I said the temperature isn't working. I was made to feel as though my complaint wasn't being taken seriously and felt gaslit despite trying the shower multiple times. This hotel used to be wonderful but due to how bad the service was and how horrid the receptionist (male) was this morning upon checkout I don't know if I would ever stay again and quite honestly want a refund.

This was our 3rd stay in the last month. We had room 155 for 3 nights. Very large room, but furnished very sparsely. No table And chairs or side chairs/sofa. Our other king rooms had a table and easy chair and were much smaller. Staff brought us an old dining room chair when we asked for additional seating. Missed opportunity to turn the room into a comfortable suite! Bathroom sink drain very slow. Concierge staff are what makes our stay most excellent and service by Luis in the bar outstanding. Another missed opportunity is not opening Leo's earlier in the morning for light bites, while everyone is waiting for their rooms.

I paid a premium for the room (presumably as there was a show on at the same time) but regardless I’d say the hotel is mediocre. As a regular traveller, it’s a typical looks nicer in the pictures / dim lighting sort of hotel as far as the rooms are concerned. For such a large hotel the services late at night are non existent so for those doing long, late evening commutes, I wouldn’t recommend it and have stayed in more helpful hotels. Bit of a shame for an otherwise well respected hotel chain.

Arriving at the property was easy, parking price a little steep but that is normal now. Got an upgraded room which was a nice touch. Bed was very comfortable and room was spacious. Nice balcony although balcony door let in a constant draft. Bath and shower facilities very nice, although toilet awkwardly situated in front of shower door. Went to order room service and found that tray charge was £6 so opted to collect it from the bar instead. Partner was happy with the burger but still said the price was outrageous, I was very disappointed in the pizza, tasted off and honestly worse than a supermarket pizza even though it was £16. The food and its price was a stain on an otherwise flawless stay. Regardless, I would happily stay again, it was a very nice place. Slept very well on a comfortable bed, woke up refreshed and ready for the next leg of my journey.

Great hotel in a really good location
I always stay here when in Southampton. The hotel just seems to get better since it's change of ownership. This was a birthday celebration with a friend, and the hotel made it feel extra special. Dined in the restaurant and the food was excellent. Everything you want is provided in the rooms, which are very comfortable. So handy for a pre cruise stay, shopping or just relaxing. Highly recommend. Wonderful guest relations team. Easy online check in and out. Can't wait for my next stay.
