Very good location two minutes from the centre of Harrogate, not expensive (about £100/night), and room was warm, but this hotel has little in the way of charm or atmosphere. Front desk staff not particularly welcoming, breakfast in a soulless room, mattress felt about 30 years old, noisy water pipes kept us awake all night and, despite having a huge car park, we got charged £10 for off-street parking. Mediocre.

Only stayed one night, but really enjoyed stay. We arrived early in the morning and although we could not book in till 3 we were allowed to park in the car park. Although parking costs £10 it was worth it as we didn’t have to pay or find parking elsewhere when we spent the day in the town. Easy to walk into town. Hotel is really nice, lovely old building. Spotlessly clean. Staff friendly and helpful. Don’t know what the bad reviews are about. Don’t let them put you off.

Lovely stay
Absolutely great. Stayed in one of the feature suites and it was more than we could have asked for. Well equipped and clean and well furnished. The only thing that could have been added was a shower cap as the shower over the bath is a big fixed waterfall type and I didn’t want to get my hair wet taking a shower. Very comfortable big bed. Hotel is lovely, love the style! Would definitely return, in fact looking at dates when we can 😁

Excellent experience. It’s a beautiful hotel, dating back to over 250 years ago. The grounds and everything about it are simply stunning. The breakfast was just about as good as English breakfast can get! Staff were class, parking was easy. That being said, keeping the age of the hotel in mind, my room had little sound barrier between it and the adjoining rooms - I felt each night that the man in the next room snoring was in my bed. As well, no two rooms are the same which I thought was brilliant, mine most likely being a servants’ quarters or something of that nature. If you are exceptionally tall, some rooms may be difficult for you to stand in - for me it was the loo. All in all - excellent.

A warm welcome on arrival for us and our dog, thank you. The room was comfortable and spacious and breakfast was delicious. It a lovely character property but that comes with a few quirks (I know I live in a 300 yr old house). We managed to close the sash window in the bathroom and wedge it closed for the night, I was surprised it was open then realised it wasn’t intentional. We had a great night, thank you
