Nice hotel is a good location for the station and not too far from town. Quite expensive. Hotel going through some renovation but disruption wasn’t too bad. A bit of penny pinching with the in room complementary coffee and biscuits - cheap biscuits should be avoided…..

A lovely anniversary break
We arrived at the hotel early, did all the booking in, left our bags with reception, and went into York. On returning we collected our keys and our bags were taken up to our room. I had previously ordered, as a surprise for my husband due to it being our 30th anniversary, a box of chocolates and a fruit platter, both of which were waiting for us. The junior suite was lovely and airy, looking out towards the garden and Minster, there was also a box containing biscuits and various packets of teas/coffees, and cans of water in tbe fridge. We had also booked evening meals, and these were very enjoyable and tasty, the burger for my husband and the fish for myself, followed by salted caramel ice creams. Throughout our stay the staff were lovely, very helpful and considerate and always available. When we booked out we left our bags with them until time for our train. Thank-you to all the staff for a relaxing time.

Great hotel, close to the centre of York.
Lovely stay at the hotel. Great service. Beautiful hotel. Great breakfast. Nice and close to all the shops and things to do. Downside - pillows really uncomfortable. We were in room 231 which was on the back and you did get noise from the tanoy but nothing terrible.

Disappointing stay, not usual standard of service
I am a regular at this hotel and this was by far the worst stay we have had. There seems to have been changes to management and we were given conflicting information by different members of staff. We had to pay on arrival which we have never had to before. We had booked two rooms together but on arrival were told they were in different parts of the hotel (this was rectified). We were told we couldn’t put a card on rooms to charge drinks etc to and had to pay as we went along. Then we were told we could add a card. We were offered a refund for the change in rooms and this was never paid on to the card we had booked with. We were told we wouldn’t be charge for parking and then were. The rooms are well appointed and comfortable as ever and the staff friendly but around a very disappointing stay this time due to conflicting advice and information

The main public spaces are very nice in the hotel as was the Bathroom but the room in places was rather tired though. Given it was a £332 stay for 1 night, I would expect the attention to detail to be much higher. It would also have been nice to of been told the Air conditioning was unavailable either at the point of booking or checking in. Would stay again I just don’t think the Suite is value for money.

Lovely hotel in a perfect location but spoiled by poor dining room - out of character with the rest of the hotel. Cooked breakfast was good but the rest lacked choice. Faulty TV reported twice but never fixed.
