Great hotel in downtown York
Lovely older hotel right in the heart of York. Room was spacious, staff were friendly, it was super easy to get to everywhere we wanted to see. Did not dine here so can't comment on food.

For the most part, our stay was good. The location is great and the common areas are beautiful. However, the room we stayed in wasn't of the same quality as the rest of the hotel. The wall was peeling off as if there had been a water leak or something like that and there were stains on the carpet. The bathroom was large and the shower was great though. We didn't spend much time in the room, so didn't mind but is something to be aware of, especially if you paid a lot for the room.

This is a beautiful hotel, and beautiful building within walkable distance to the centre of York and very close to the train station. The staff at check in were very helpful and helped us out of the car with our bags. The room itself was nice, the shower was amazing!! The two big issues though were the bed - it was incredibly uncomfortable and you could feel the springs digging into your back. The hotel either needs to upgrade to better mattresses or put mattress toppers on the beds, as our backs were very sore the following day. The second issue was the noise - it’s not well soundproofed from outside noises (close to pubs, train stations and a police station), and you could here a loud sound of water running (it sounds like it is running down the walls) when someone in the above floors use the bathroom. Other than those factors, this accommodation was lovely.

Excellent hotel excellent location
Excellent location brilliant hotel all round. Has been done up lovely pleasure too drink and eat there in the posh surroundings. The spa facilities are spot on and free if you stay there. Best steam and sauna ive used. Pool good size also. Staff very friendly could banter with them all night. Loads of different spaces where could relax and have a beer. Room and bed great. Deff be back.
