Staff in hotel were a little rude and not very helpful, from the front desk to the rooftop bar. Nice view from the rooftop, and the overall vibe of the hotel was nice, very 1920s LA. Room was quite small, elevators were also quite small. Location was okay, relatively close to what seemed to be the only supermarket in Downtown LA (Whole Foods Market) and about a 10 - 15 minutes walk from the nearest Metro station. Not a lot else nearby, but a decent enough base to launch into the rest of Downtown LA from.

First, we were greeted by Caesar at the valet, and he was super friendly & helpful, the room was very cool, and way better than anticipated, Luke and Carisa at the roof top bar were top shelf in every sense of the word, the view, the pool and all the folks enjoying it were also first class. I have to say the cheeseburger and fish tacos were so good, and the burnt eggplant at the Exchange was something I would drive here for anytime. My wife and I had a great time in DTLA and will for sure be back!! A big thumb's up Freehand!!!

I want to say that the hotel is great, however, our room was exactly by the elevators and had instead of proper walls, there was glass. Sadly that led to the room being so very noisy that sleeping was a bit challenging. People would go in and out at all times of the night, some people would have their phone conversations right outside the door and we could hear everything, even the people on the other end of the phone. So that was a massive disappointment. The second one was the bar on the rooftop. If one is expected to pay 12 usd for a small IPA, and then pay for health tax and service charge and then a tip, bring us 2 glasses for the beers at least, do not just dump two cans on the table. Other than that, the room itself was clean and comfortable, the bed was comfortable. Housekeeping visited every day. The windows however are in desperate need of soundproofing. We were on the 3rd floor and the noise pollution was truly awful.

Building was old. Rooms are ok. Very old elevators. Pool area was not that great until sat night. Lots of homeless around. There is also a night club in front so lots of noise. Outside smells like piss. Price and what you get do not match.

A hiccup of a stay at the end and checkout but staff at front desk was mire than accomadating and righted an error on the companies communcation side. I was very impressed with the location and the rooms. Staff that did check me out please give acknowledgment . He was awesome Thanks Freehand . I would definitely stay here again.
