The hotel is great and lively. However there was a strong chemical smell which I assume was a cleaner, but it was intolerable. I called the front desk and was told the manager was up on my floor and she would alert them but she was clearly gaslighting me because they never showed. There was no explanation for the smell nor was there an attempt to reach out-just a suggestion to change rooms round 10 pm to the last room available. I was checking out in the morning. It was awful and I had to sleep with a mask no hate wearing masks!

Great stay at the Alton.
This hotel had an amazing view of the ocean and Alcatraz. Our room was in a King bed suite and chose the waterside view. It felt safe and there was always someone outside to help. They had dependable valet which made us feel better about parking. We didn’t get an opportunity to try out the restaurant but the menu looked good. We enjoyed our stay and would certainly recommend it to anyone who wants to be in a good location close to many tourist attractions.

Nice stay near the Wharf!
Nice one night stay after a short vacation in the SF area. Great location for walking to bars, restaurants and the Fisherman’s Wharf. Hotel did a nice job arranging for our car to be accessible for an early morning departure before the valets were there.
