The staff went to great lengths to make NYE fun and memorable. But the amount of plastic at breakfast and evening drinks was shocking. It would not be difficult to replace much of it with paper utensils.

Hotel is old, but elegant and well maintained. Room was made up every day; you don't see that very often anymore! Breakfast and afternoon snack ("wine and cheese") are minimalist but acceptable. Heat is via vintage radiators and you have no control other than "off" or "full blast." Room was generally cool in November, but they provided us a small electric space heater to help. You will hear sirens at night from fire and police vehicles; be sure to bring or buy earplugs.

This place was beyond expectations. Location was just what we needed, service was above and beyond letting us check in early, gave advice on places to check out, the rooms also were amazing and comfortable, plus the had a kitchenettes. I will definitely be back

It was a nice hotel but the parking was a hassle they only have valet parking and it works take line 30 minutes to get your car to inconvenient if you want to go out somewhere

Although the property is very old fashioned, the room was very spacious and extremely clean, there was not a speck of dust anywhere! The bathroom was very nice with twin sinks and a shower/ bath combo. There was also a handy kitchen with a full fridge/ freezer, oven and microwave. There was no air conditioning though, however, I can’t say we noticed this as the room was always at a nice temperature. An added bonus was a small breakfast included each morning which we had not expected. Although only a small selection of pastries: cakes, porridge, fruit, yogurt and nutrition bars, it set you up for the morning. There was also a set up each day between 4.30pm and 6pm where wine, cheese and crackers were served in the lobby area. The location of the hotel was very convenient to walk to Union Square and Market Street where you can catch the cable car and the BART and for shopping. As mentioned above, although the property is very old and could do with some modernising, I can’t fault the hotel and I would definitely stay here again if I was to visit.

The hotel itself is nice, doesn't look anything like the picture. Convenient valet. Outside area waa extremely dirty and sketchy. Man sleeping on an air mattress on the street, looked like a drug deal in the corner, girl on drugs holding a spoon and blood on shirt walking the streets. Not anything to do with the hotel, but thats the neighborhood its in. Staff was not friendly. The hotel beds were comfy, delicious thai restaurant directly across the street and convenient store as well. Super noisy and night and early morning. Will not be returning ever.

What a fantastic location and wonderfully charming and preserved hotel. Very very clean and wonderful quality bedding. Bathroom was large and spacious and kitchenette was well stocked and lovely. Front desk staff was so accommodating and friendly. Will stay again.
