Lovely hotel. Staff were great. Room a little on the small side but very large bed which makes up for size of room. Would have liked a small table near a plug socket to put the kettle on to boil (had to use dresser table). Toilet brush would be useful. Didnt realise 2 bottles of water in the fridge until we left. Perhaps a welcome note in each room could point this out. Breakfast was amazing and a really lovely breakfast room. Location is spot on. Would highly recommend

Wonderful stay we were very lucky and got a free upgrade to the Grand suite on the 7th floor .All staff were lovely and very friendly.Food was great and the portions were huge .Enjoyed the cocktails in the evening in the lounge bar .Breakfast was excellent,self service but good quality and plenty of it

Best night's sleep in ages
I booked a single room at the Grand for a one-night stay. The room was inland facing and did not have a view but it was very modern and smart, with a lovely marbled shower room. The room was very quiet and I slept better than I had in ages. Breakfast was excellent - a wide variety of buffet items. All the staff were extremely helpful.

With my baby and pregnant wife and made us wait till 5.30pm to check in. They did give us a free drink at the bar but would have thought better from a top hotel. Pillows where rubbish and hard bathroom very dated and needing love. Staff were very good and breakfast very good.

Overall, the hotel was ok. The parts that were not so great - Carpets are worn in places and have been repaired with plastic The shower was so powerful, it got the bathroom floor wet The air con wasn’t working and after three requests, we had to get a fan ourselves from reception as the room was so hot and the windows didn’t open The staff in the lounge (an Irish female and a young male who made us feel really old when he said he was born in 2000) were absolutely brilliant. They understood hospitality and made our evening really enjoyable.

I liked the grand old lady aspect of the hotel which gave an extra dimension to a seaside stay. I would certainly come back again although I suspected I was paying a higher price than many of the other residents!
