Good but not great
We stayed in this hotel many years ago when it was called the Monkbar Hotel. Back then, car parking wasn't a problem. However, there is a severe lack of spaces in the hotel, and it's difficult to find anything nearby. They also charge you £25 per day if you do happen to find a space in the hotel. The hotel was very nice. However, we arrived at 4pm to be told that our room wasn't ready as it had been cleaned but still had to be inspected. Thankfully, we only had to wait around 10 minutes before being allowed into our room. The room was very good, and we arranged to have a meal in the hotel restaurant later that night. The service in the restaurant was good, but the food that I got served wasn't what was ordered, e.g. curry with cashew nuts didn't have any cashew nuts in it. However, I didn't say anything as the food served to us was very good. We noticed later that there was no shower gel in the room. This was a shock, as it had been cleaned and inspected earlier (hence not being allowed into our room on time). The next morning, we spoke to a staff member on reception about the lack of shower gel, who advised that they would get this sorted. Later that night, I tried to have a shower only to find that there was still no shower gel. I spoke to reception the next morning, who also said that it would be sorted. Up to when we checked out the next day, the shower gel issue still hadn't been resolved. Although this was a nice hotel, small issues has lowered the score for me.

Room was very small for a double room, the room was very tired and not very clean. Breakfast was poor, waiting for food to be replenished, one of the waitresses was very rude and not to the standard required in this hotel. Stayed at this hotel quite alot however will need to improve for us to come back.

Lovely hotel. Room was quiet so got great sleep whilst there. Nice bar and restaurant. The staff were very helpful every time we needed something. Would definitely recommend staying here

Pleasant Stay
We arrived 5 hours before check in time and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful and allowed us to store our bags there until check in. The room was clean and comfortable. Right on a main road so slightly noisy on a morning with the rush hour traffic but couldn’t be helped. The location was perfect and only a very short from all tourist attractions. The only negative was that the breakfast was £14.95 per person which was very expensive for what was available.

We were in the other side of the hotel, along a long corridor and up stairs. The room was spacious but we had to put the heater on. The carpet was stained and not fitted well. The window was dirty. The location and breakfast were the best part.

gorgeous hotel with friendly staff. my only complaint is the bed was so hard and uncomfortable, it was like sleeping on a bed of bricks and concrete. Didn’t get much sleep and back was hurting the following day. Luckily we were only staying the one night as couldn’t have done another night on it.

Room was clean and had everything we needed. We had originally booked a room with two twins but it was unavailable so we were given two double rooms next to each other which was nice, since we’re young friends travelling together. However our room was so far away that the WIFI didn’t work. We were only there for one night, so we didn’t complain. Would have bothered us if we were staying longer. We weren’t driving, but noticed that the parking there is very limited, and even our cab driver struggled to be able to get in and out of the lot. Location was very central, and we were able to walk to everything we wanted to see. Staff were wonderful and they had great recommendations on things to see.
