We had a 2 night stay in a Minster View Suite however our stay was hampered by noise . There was a large wedding on and we could hear the disco until 12am then were woken 7.30am both mornings by children running wild in the room above. Not the relaxing special wedding anniversary break we wanted. Room was ok and comfortable

This was the second visit to the hotel for a Xmas break, the last visit being 2 years ago. The first time we pulled out all the stops and had a magical stay in the booked suite. This time however, budget constraints meant I had to drop down to a Deluxe Double (albeit with a kings size bed). However, on arrival it was immediately apparent that to advertise this a a deluxe was a certainly an overly optimistic description. Yes it was garden facing, but with a room at the end of the corridor (Room343) a small window, very limited storage space and peeling wallpaper, I feel the Milner has not met its own high standards as we experienced on our previous visit. Yes we were refunded the car parking charges for the duration of our stay ( a separate issue I’ll let someone else comment on) but that did not make up for an overall disappointing experience. If able, pay for the suites rather than what the hotel offers as Deluxe !

Our stay was average. Great location, hotel is walkable to station and city. The room was comfortable, although staff service and hospitality could definitely be improved given the amount of money we spent to stay there. We arrived to an issue with plumbing in the sink. It was fixed promptly, however, there was an unpleasant smell of plumbing that seemed to waft throughout the building. Staff were not that attentive. We were kept waiting each time we ordered breakfast room service. On one occasion, it was so late that we had to leave the hotel before it arrived. Poor communication. Also, the room was not cleaned every day. Even when we asked for a clean, it was not done. Unfortunately, we would not stay again.

We have stayed here many times and always been happy with the service and room quality, sadly on this occasion we were allocated a room which overlooked the station which was quite noisy, and the room was in need of some maintenance, other than that we had a lovely stay as always.

Don’t bother
This was supposed to be a pre-Xmas family treat; but turned out to be a huge disappointment from start to finish. We had a mixture of great and downright rude staff, a tiny poky room that was so dark & dim it felt a bit like a cell, and ended up calling it a day & checking out early. If you only need somewhere convenient to sleep near the station then stay here, if you want any degree of luxury then stay elsewhere.
