Pigeons have colonised the back of the hotel. There’s feathers and faeces all over the window sill and I was woken at 4am each day by pigeons cooing loudly.

Last minute Weekend away.
Last minute booking, the hotel felt mainly clean and modern, room had comfortable beds, no air-conditioning, but not a problem as the fan was adequate, all staff that we met were very friendly and helpful. Buffet breakfast was very good and definitely worth the money, the breakfast room has a excellent view of the Sea, the only tiny drawback was the breakfast room had dirty widows, a minor thing , but when you have such a nice view... otherwise 10/10. We would stay again. Excellent location.

Absolutely amazing staff. I stayed with my toddler and the staff couldn’t have done anymore. Barry on reception was incredible and made us feel so welcome and my son couldn’t get downstairs quick enough to see him. James was also extremely helpful and again a hit with a very active toddler. Will definitely be staying again!!

Shocking accessibility room
I booked two standard rooms for a one night stay. Neither room was ready at 3pm check-in. I was palmed off with a accessibility room which I had not booked and not informed at reception that I had been allocated to. On entering the bathroom in particular I was shocked to see outdated shower facility with cracked tiles, difficult to enter shower as surrounded by gate arrangement and the most disgusting rusty seat with rust and soap scum beneath. This room should NOT be booked for anyone, let alone anyone disabled as I regard it as a complete insult that it is no way near an acceptable standard. I have booked many accessible rooms at hotels worldwide for my father when he had cancer and if I had booked this facility I would have felt totally embarrassed as I would for any disabled friends needing such a facility. Accor Group should be ashamed of themselves. Additionally the hotel is rundown in the public areas and the reception carpet is filthy. I would not book a Mercure hotel again and avoid Accor Group hotels in the future. Parking availability is poor and expensive and should have been advertised as limited and chargeable.

Good hotel
The hotel is great. A little further down from the business of the waterfront. The bar and communal areas are great. The only negative is car parking there is probably only room for 15 cars and no deals on local car parks. This added another £60 to the stay.
